Lance shook his head with a rueful smile as he sat down on the couch in the back longue where Chris and Justin were sitting on the floor playing Mortal Combat. Chris glanced over at his younger friend and nearly burst out laughing.
"So, what did the 'drama queen' have to say?" Chris inquired as he pressed buttons with a vengeance.
"She serenaded me with childrens songs." Lance commented, laughter filling his voice.
"You know it's true love when she sings kiddie songs to you." Chris laughed as his character in the game ripped Justin's character's head off, then set him on fire.
"Chris, you can't do that!" Justin exclaimed loudly.
"I just did. What are you gonna do about it?" Chris smiled folding his arms across his chest.
"I don't think it's true love. At least not yet." Lance interjected suddenly, causing both Chris and Justin turn their attentions to him.
"Oh come on, Lansten." Justin groaned with a good natured smile. "You two talk on the phone for hours, laugh about nothing in particular and basically have a ton of fun together. It's the perfect relationship."
"Besides, we heard you ask her out." Chris smiled devilishly.
"Stop picking on poor Lance. As if he didn't get enough from you guys." JC commented as he walked into the room, holding a book he desperately wanted to read.
"My hero." Lance laughed, batting his eyelashes at JC, who groaned rolling his eyes.
"JC, Chris is cheating. You want to play a game?" Justin inquired hopefully.
"Why? So you can cheat with me?" JC laughed with a shake of his head.
"I don't cheat!" Justin exclaimed loudly with a laugh.
"Sure you don't. You just freeze the screen so I can't do anything. Then you kill me." JC nodded, a bemused expression on his face.
"That's not cheating. That's just part of the game." Justin defended himself, a pout forming on his lips.
"Yeah, okay." JC nodded with a grave sigh.
"You know what? Forget it. I'll just wait until we get home, then I'll play this video game with Jon. At least he doesn't complain when he loses." Justin smirked as he tossed his controller onto the floor.
"No, he just hits you upside the head." Chris snorted, referring to the last time Justin and his younger brother Jonathan played a video game together.
"You know... I really hate the fact that you guys...." Justin was saying, then was silenced by a pillow that hit him in the face. Soon a all out pillow fight broke out among the men, ending up with a pile of bodies on the floor.
"Wait, when did this turn into a football game?" Chris, whom was at the bottom of the pile, groaned loudly.
"I'm king of the hill!" Justin cried out victoriously as he jumped on top of everyone, who in turn let out a collective groan.
"Justin, I swear to God, if you don't get off of me....." Lance warned as Joe stepped into the room and shook his head with amusement.
"Wow, I leave for a few minutes to talk to the driver, and everything goes to hell right quick." Joe laughed as he took a seat on one of the couches.
Justin smiled as he rolled off the pile to lay on the floor. Lance grimaced as he climbed to his feet, then turned to help JC to his feet. Chris remained on the floor, eyes closed.
"I think we killed him." JC laughed with a shake of his head.
"Hot damn, more fans for me." Justin grinned as he shifted into a sitting position.
"In your dreams, Boy Wonder." Chris grunted, taking a few deep breaths before climbing to his feet to flop down on the couch.
"It was worth a try." Justin shrugged leaning back against the wall as Lance's phone rang. He sighed and pulled the object out of his pocket.
"Hello?"
"So I couldn't sleep and I knew you were having too much fun for your own good. Thus the reason why I called."
"I thought you were mad at me."
"After sleeping for twenty minutes, I got over it."
"I see."
"Gee, someone's just a mite upset with me."
"No, not I."
"Said the fly. Anyway, why are you so out of breath?"
"We were having a pillow fight that somehow turned into a football game and king of the hill all at once."
"Sounds interesting. No, actually, it doesn't."
"I didn't think it did."
"You know something?"
"I know a lot of things, but why don't you tell me anyway."
"I miss you."
"You do?"
"No, I just said that to make you feel better."
"Oh, that would explain a lot of things."
"Yeah, doesn't it?"
"Well, I miss you too."
"That's a relief."
"You sound really tired, Rach."
"I know, but like I said, I can't sleep."
"You want me to sing you to sleep?"
"Sing me to sleep? There's a novel idea."
"I will if you want me to."
"Sure, go for it."
"Hold on, let me switch rooms. Too many people in this one, and their giving me kissie faces and goo goo eyes."
"Alright, I'm waiting."
"Okay, alone at last."
"Come here often sailor?"
"Every night. How come I haven't seen you here before?"
"Well, you know how Brutus can be. Never letting a woman leave the house and all."
"Ah, well, that explains the rest of it."
"Yeah, I guess it would."
"So, what song do you want me to sing?"
"Anything mellow."
"I wrote her off for the tenth time today. I practiced all the things I would say."
"That's not mellow. That's the Offspring."
"Sorry. Let me think for a second."
"Your second's up."
Smart ass."
"You know it."
"Too well."
"Okay, here's one from way back when."
"Alright, I'm listening."
"Please don't go girl. You will ruin my whole world. Tell me you'll stay. And never ever go away."
"I'm gonna slap you of you don't stop with that song. New Kids were a riot the first time around, but now they're just dead. Leave them dead."
" So sorry. Thought you might like that one."
"I don't."
"I gathered as much."
"Considering I told you to knock it off, it would have been hard not to."
"How about this one."
"I'm still waiting."
"I'm Henry the Eighth I am, Henry the Eighth I am, I am."
"I'll hang up, and this time it's not an idle threat."
"Okay. I'm thinking here."
"Is that why I smell smoke?"
"Probably."
"Okay, just checking."
"I could sing, let's see. What could I sing?"
"Why don't you stick to one of the songs you sing on a nightly basis?"
"Wherever I go, whatever I do, wherever my heart is crying out for you. Wherever I go, whatever I do. I'm crazy for you."
"That's not mellow. You know what? Forget it. I don't need you to sing me to sleep."
"Everything is gonna be all right, rockabye. Rockabye."
"A song I actually like. I'm impressed."
"I thought you might be."
"I should get going. I have an eight o'clock class in the morning."
"Sounds like a good idea."
"I always knew you were the level headed one."
"Comes with the territory."
"The territory of what?"
"Being an albino."
"Oh, okay. Thanks for informing me of that."
"Not a problem."
"So, like I said, I should get off the phone now."
"Yes, you should. Good night, Rachel."
"Night, Lance."
