Chalpin, Ed
(Edward Chalpin, ?-?)
Jimis manager while playing with the Jimi Hendrix Sound and
Curtis Knight & The Squires.
Ed later demanded several albums that Jimi had signed to provide him,
wich made things difficult for Jimi later in his career.
Chandler, Chas
(Brian Chandler,
?-?)
The Experience's producer and the man who discovered Jimi Hendrix.
It happened in 1966, when Chas saw Jimi play 'Hey Joe' in Café Wha?.
Chandler had min flown to London to make a record.
He teamed Jimi with Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell, and they made
"Are You Experienced", to be released in may 1967.
Chandler was born in Newcastle, and played bass in the band The Animals
before he quit to go into producing.

in 1967, but continued recording with them even after joining The Experience
and releasing Are You Experienced.
Kramer, Eddie
(Edward Kramer, 1942-?)
A South African music engineer at Olympic Studios.
Mitchell, Mitch
(John Mitchell 1947-)
The Experience's dummer. He was 19 when he entered The Experience,
but full of talent.
He had been performing in public since the age of three, and had also
been the host of a TV series at the age of 16. Mitch was educated at Acts
Educational and The Corona School. He had also been in several bands, such
as The Coronets, The Riot Squad and Gerogie Fame's Blue
Flames. After several drummer editions, Chas had to choose between
Aynsley Dunbar, John Banks and Mitch. It was setteled by flipping a coin.
Mitch quit the Experience July 1, 1969, the day after Noel. The reason
was that Jimi had never consultet anyone of them when taking important
desicions, especially when announcing a band enlargement the day before
Mitch left. Mitch later continued as Jimi's drummer in The band of Gypsies.
The Experience reunited in 1970, but was interrupted by Jimi's death.
Redding, Noel
(1946-)
The Experience's bass player. Noel was born in Folkestone in Hants
in Southern England in 1946.
He left school
in 1962. In 1965, he formed The Loving Kind, but unhappy with the
group's lack of success, he disbandet it the year after.
He was originally a guitar player, and shoved up for an audition as
lead guitarist in the New Animals.
The spot was taken, but Noel was told there was this new guitarist,
Jimi Hendrix, that needed a bassist. Noel had never played the bass before,
but said OK, he'd try.
He played Hey Joe well in the autition, and remembered the chord
exactly the next day. This, and his image, was what got him the job. He
was tall and skinny, like Jimi, wore big, round glasses and had an exreme
hairdo. Also, just like Jimi.
Noel quit The Experience June 30, 1969, for several reasons. One was
that he and Mitch had little or no say at all in desictions concerning
the band. Another was that he and Jimi often argued.
Among others, about whether Jimi needed glasses or not. When Noel read
in the newspaper that Jimi had planned to expand the band, without conculting
any of the other members, he quit and flew to England the same day. Mitch
quit the next day.
The Experience was reunited in 1970, but was interrupted by Jimi's
death.
Sundquist, Eva
(1943-)
The mother of Jimi's Swedish son, James Henrik Daniel Sundquist. Electric
Ladyland is dedicated to her. On some appearances Jimi appeared with
roses on his guitar. These were roses Eva had sent him.
Sundquist, James Henrik Daniel (Jimi, Jr)
(1969-)
Jimi's Swedish son. He was concieved when Jimi was on a tour in Sweden.
He was born October 6, 1969 in either Allmäna BB or Söders
Sjukhuset in Stockholm.
In the beginning, his mother Eva refused to reveal the father's name
in order to protect young Jimi and keep Jimi Sr out of trouble. She revealed
the paternity after Jimi's death.
In December 1975, Swedish Distric Court established James Henrik as
Jimi's son. Thus, he is, according to Swedish law, entitled to Jimi's shole
inheritance. But US laws gives Little James nothing. Al Hendrix wrote Eva
and said she had no chance of getting any money, perhaps thinking she's
a hoax. In april 1976, Al has changed his mind, and grants a monthly support
for the Sundquist family.
Young Jimi was bothered as a child because of his father, and because
of being black in Sweden. He looks just like Jimi, and is now proud of
who his dad is. He also likes the music, though it is not his favourite.
He also rescently appeared as a statist on a music video featuring a techno
melody with lots of Hendrix sampling; If the 60s Were The 90s.
