All that you need to know about Silverchair. Nothing that you might want to know, because quite frankly, I feel that the unneccessity of delving into their lives(and the futility of researching information on people who are hardly aware of my meek existence) make such information superfluos; that's the way I see it from my point of view anyway, no pun intended. Lets get on with the freak show, shall we?
Who, what, where, when and why?
Silverchair is an Australian grunge band made up of Ben Gillies, Chris Joannou and Daniel Johns(nice how their names run in alphabetical order, aye?). Gillies is the fabulous drummer, Chris Joannou the spectacular bassist and Daniel Johns the mind-blowing lead guitarist and vocalist.
Formerly the Innocent Criminals, Silverchair was 'spawned' in 1992. Two years later they triumphed as winners in a talent contest, and soon had themselves a deal with Murmur(Sony).
Okay, I admit I don't know why exactly they were formed in the first place, but I dare say it may have had to do with their calenture for music(and their proficiency in it!).
So anyway, they released their debut album Frogstomp in 1995, and the thing generated fans in Australia, USA and basically everywhere else it was heard, right away.
To date, Silverchair have three main albums on the shelves, chronologically, Frogstomp, Freak Show, Neon Ballroom and Diorama. Tthere is also a "Best Of" one, mustered out by Sony, who Silverchair have left in favour of an independant EMI label called Eleven.
