"PLAYING IN THE DIRT
WE FOUND THE SEEDS OF DOUBT
DON'T WATER THEM WITH YOUR TEARS
DON'T THINK ABOUT ALL THE YEARS
YOU'D RATHER BE WITHOUT"
I first discovered the music of INXS back in 1983...The album, THE SWING
was enjoying a cult following in the United States ,and young people were
talking about this new group from Australia, called INXS, although few
could pronounce it!!
I watched the band grow with each new release and
saw them live with my friends, Traci, Rob,and Tammy on the KICK tour!
MAN, people were dancing on the seats throughout the entire show!
Micheal
Hutchence had such an increadible presence.
And the band was so tight!
After the X album in 1990, for some reason or another, sales dropped and
interests waned..
Then in 1997 ELEGANTLY WASTED was released..I bought
the new CD and loved it! It was such a great CD!! I started listening to
all the old music, and re-bonded with INXS. I saw the Tour when it
stopped in Los Angeles and even wrote a review for the
AN EXCESS OF INXS
website.. The band was so electric that
night! Nobody sat down once! And Micheal was in top form. I felt so
lucky to have caught such an electric performance...
little did I know at
that time, how lucky I was, as Micheal Hutchence died just months later.
That day was a horrible shock and such a tragic loss.. INXS was building
up their audience again (ELEGANTLY WASTED had built them a cult again in
the U.S.) and they were to begin a sold-out tour of their
homeland, Australia...
Micheal and the music will live and play on in our
hearts and he will be missed by many...Rest in Peace, Micheal!
