An Evening with Elton John
Phillips Arena - Atlanta, GA
September 24, 1999
Once again, Laura, Scottie and I planned to see Elton together. And once again, it was an amazing experience.

Our day started very early at the Phillips Arena. Laura and I went down there to check things out and to hang out til Scottie came to town. We were able to go in and have a sneak peek at the arena. We also were able to watch the crew set up the stage for that evening. Oh Laura, they would like their electical tape back. Haha!

Laura, Scottie and I arrived at the arena about a half hour before show time. We were THE HAPPIEST fans that night because we had FANTASTIC seats...Section 3, Row A. In other words we had front row right infront of Elton! Could not get any better than this, unless of course you're on stage with Elton. We spotted Ted Turner and Jane Fonda behind us. What do ya know, we had better seats than the owner of the arena! I think it was past Ted's bed time cause he did not stop yawning.

Elton came on just after 8pm, wearing a white suit and opened with Your Song. I was very pleased with security here. They allowed us to take all the pictures we wanted and approach the stage for autographs and etc. I have a pyramid paper weight from Aida that I got signed. During the show, we noticed David Furnish standing at the side of the stage, singing along. The three of us were able to say hi to him and he signed a cd for Scottie and I and Laura's 5ft Citibank banner from the Big Picture Tour. What a sweetheart he is.

We weren't able to stand at the stage til he sang Crocodile Rock. He had the whole arena dancing and singing along to that. I was so excited to hear him sing Empty Garden, Sweet Painted Lady and Elton's Song. At one point, Elton said he had an announcement to make. He looked very concerned and I was waiting to hear him say that someone died. He then gave the score of the Braves...they were winning. He then stood up and cheered. The place went wild. Elton loves those Braves.

The show lasted about 3 hours and I was so sad to see it come to an end. Elton gave us a FANTASTIC show and in response, Atlanta gave him a very warm reception.

Between the three of us,we have about 200 pictures of the show. Here are some of my favorites!

Here's Jane and Ted. We had better seats than they did.
Who's that chick blocking the view? Oh, that's me handing Elton flowers!
There's me again. "I WANNA HOLD YOUR HAND"
Look, it's me and David Furnish!
Give yourself a round of applause!
