Hi, I want to be sure that any CFA fans in the Atlanta, GA area know about this... On Monday November 20, the band Cool for August will donate all proceeds of their performance at Smith’s Olde Bar in Atlanta to VH-1’s Save the Music Foundation. The event has received widespread local support and will be hosted by radio station 99X (WNNX). On board with Melisma Records to sponsor the event are Moonshine Backline, Mars Music and TourDates.com/Launch.com. The show will be cybercast in real time on the Web by the Digital Club Network and can be accessed at the following address: www.DigitalClubNetwork.com VH-1’s Save the Music program reinstates music instruction in public schools nationwide by distributing musical instruments and conducting awareness events in the community. Research has shown that a child’s participation in music education improves self-esteem, school attendance, early cognitive development, SAT scores, self-discipline, spatial reasoning skills, and basic math and reading skills. In addition, children who are involved in music programs are more likely to graduate from high school and go on to attend college, and less likely to be involved with gangs or substance abuse. The event will kick-off with a silent auction of autographed memorabilia donated by such celebrities as matchbox twenty, Collective Soul, Live, Angie Aparo and The Black Crowes. The doors open at 8 p.m. for cocktails and viewing of the silent auction items, opening band Young Antiques play at 9p.m., and Cool For August takes the stage at 10 p.m. The admission price is a minimum $6 donation at the door, and patrons must be twenty-one and over to enter.
