MAGIC BUS: Seems that COOL FOR AUGUST have come up with a whole new way to go unplugged. Before a recent Pittsburgh show, the band, looking to do something different, were inspired to go acoustic and invited some early arrivals at the show to join them. The result? An extremely unplugged set aboard the band's tour bus. Cramming their "home on the road" with as many patrons as possible, they cranked out a few acoustic tunes before performing their regular set at the club in full, amplified glory. "It was one of the most rewarding performances we've done," said drummer SHANE HILLS. "We knew it was going to be pretty cool, but we were amazed at how it turned out." In fact, COOL FOR AUGUST--who are on the road in support of their recent debut disc, GRAND WORLD (Warner Bros.)--enjoyed the tour bus gig so much they're planning on trying it out in a few more cities. Concurred singer GORDON VAUGHN, "It was such a magical thing...we want to do again on the road whenever it feels right." In other news, the band--HILLS, VAUGHN, guitarist TREVOR KUSTIAK and bassist ANDREW SHIVES--are currently in Los Angeles filming the video for their upcoming single, "Walk Away," with acclaimed video director Nigel Dick (Oasis, Offspring). GRAND WORLD's first track, "Don't Wanna Be Here," went Top 15 on Billboard's rock tracks chart, while the follow-up, "Trials"--a memorial to vocalist VAUGHN's sister, who died in a car accident--is presently bulleted at #25 on the trade magazine's rock charts.
