The Wembley Downs Cricket Club (as that entity) first participated in the Western Australian Surburban Turf Cricket Association (W.A.S.T.C.A) in the 1982-83 season. However, its history, tradition and roots precede that date.
Prior to the 1982-83 season, two workmates ( Michael Waterson and Glen Featherby) discussed the possibility of a merger between their two clubs. During the winter months preceding the 82-83' season delegates from the Nedlands College Cricket Club (Surburban Turf) and Wembley Downs (Metropolitan Cricket Association) met to discuss an amalgamation between the two clubs. Those delegates were Chris Austen, David Walton, Robert Beaman and Fred Davis. The discussions were successful and a decision made for the club to be identified as the Wembley Downs Cricket Club.
The Nedlands College Cricket Clubs initial season in Surburban Turf was 1970-71 under the banner of Secondary Teachers College Cricket Club. With that in mind, the 1994-95 season was the clubs 25th anniversary in Surburban Turf and culminated in a first grade premiership and a successful year by the club as a whole.
