Although this album was put together for a worthy cause, it is still one of the best tributes to Lennon out yet. After listening to these tracks you soon realize John was way ahead of his time. The artist such as Red Hot Chile Peppers and Blues Traveler show that these songs of yesterday are the sounds of today, and maybe tomorrow.

Being that my girlfriend is a big Mary Chapin Carpenter Fan she asked me to play this track first. I wanted to taste the whole thing, but we agreed to go through a minute of each track until we got to Grow Old With Me. After listening to this version I was awestruck and backtracked to listen to the whole thing once again. This became our song and we had this variation of the tune sang at our wedding. I think if John had have heard this version he would have put the song away and considered it finished!

In honor of one of rock In' roll's greatest heroes, Hollywood Records will release an all-star tribute album to the late John Lennon, featuring many of today's top recording artists. The album, entitled Peace, coincides with the 15th anniversary of the death of John Lennon and what would have been the 55th birthday (October 9) of the late great musician. The album will be released October 10.

The performances on Peace will include (in no particular order) The Red Hot Chili Peppers ("I Found Out"); Candlebox (1,Steel and Glass") ; Mary Chapin Carpenter ("Grow Old With Me"); Scott Weiland and the Magnificent Bastards ("How Do You Sleep?"); Screaming Trees, ("Working Class Hero") ; George Clinton ("Mind Games"); Cheap Trick ("Cold Turkey") ; Collective Soul ("Jealous Guy") ; Blues Traveler ("Imagine") ; Flaming Lips ("Nobody Told Me"); Mad Season (Mike McCready, Layne Staley, Barrett Martin and John Baker Saunders) ("I Don't Want To Be A Soldier"); Toad The Wet Sprocket ("Instant Karma"); The Minus 5 (Scott McCaughey, Peter Buck, Lee Ranaldo, Mary Lou Lord and Dennis Diken) ("Power To The People"); and Sponge ("Isolation") .

Peace is the brainchild of artist manager (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Candlebox) , Lindy Goetz and his wife, Cristine Allen Goetz. The Goetzes felt strongly that something should be done to help with the companion animal overpopulation crisis, and conceived of the Lennon tribute album as a way to accomplish that goal. Lindy Goetz approached Hollywood Records president Bob Pfeifer, who was immediately enthusiastic about the idea.

Hollywood Records, the artists and the producers will donate 50% of the profits or royalties to establish a national spay and neuter endowment which will be administered by The Humane Society of the United States. Corporate donations to the endowment will also be sought to raise funds and awareness.
