Art says: Hi to everybody, i'm sitting here with the band. I'm glad to be here...I've been online for a year and I'm digging it.
From nirvana151@juno.com: in Texas i keep getting told that the cd "world of noise" is discontinued, if that is true why is it?
Art says: No, its not discontinued. Capitol has been slow to re-press it. They don't own that record and we're not planning to sell it to them. We're going to remaster it and put some new songs it and release it probably in the year 2000. You can order it at your record store.
From garfeld@hotmail.com: How'd you get your name? and how long have you guys been together as a Everclear?
Art says: I came up with name before I even had the band. I've been sober for 11 years now. When I was a kid I thought it would be cool. It had a nice dichotomy. The band started with me, Craig Montoya and the drummer Scott Cuthbert who we never got along with musically or opersonally. The band should of always been with Greg Eklund.
From K4HKY: Just want to say... Everclear, ya kicked butt at the Sports and Music Festival.
Art says: Thanks you very much.. When I look back at that I look at myself trying to emulate Popeye...from all the sun glaring in my eye.
From Corinne-b@netscape.com: Did you like making the song from Romeo and Juliet "Local God"?
Art says: Yeah, it's weird I was writing songs for our new record when I
wrote that and just happened to be writing a song with the name Romeo. I like the groove on it and it's like the missing link between Sparkle and Fade and So Much For the Afterglow
From saif@fas.harvard.edu: Was the making of this album, as a follow-up to the wildly successful Sparkle and Fade more difficult?
Art says: It was more difficult in a way. It was alot more fun and put more of myself into it. It took over 10 months
From saif@fas.harvard.edu: How is your current club tour going? Are you planning on touring larger U.S. venues in the spring?
Art says: Yes, we are. The tour is going great and we're doing a Christmas radio show. We're doing a secondary tour in small venues in some smaller cities. In May we plan on coming back to play much bigger places.
From punk53@erols.com: It looked like you got pretty burned out early in life. Are you currently using any drugs?
Art says: Burned out is a weird turn. I'm 35 I've clean off hard drugs for 13 yrs. and 11 yrs. off alcohol. I don't even drink caffeine.
From squire3@netcom.com: how did you guys get your record contract? how did you get noticed?
Art says: We got our recording contract on an indie label a while ago. It was mad for 400 dollars. We never dreamed it was going to become a major label record.
From saif@fas.harvard.edu: How do you see Everclear's future as a band?
Art says: We're best friends and we're a band. We plan on doing another 2 albums and don't plan on doing more. I don't think bands make good music after 5 or 6 albums...so after that we're going to call it a day.
From saif@fas.harvard.edu: In Rolling Stone, SMFTA received a poor review, but it appeared the reviewer was settling a personal score. Any comments on this?
Art says: Actually, he's an English writer and wrote for a couple other
magazines. Someone asked about that and he said he doesdn't like American bands at all because they all sound like Nirvana. It did seem like he was bias, but I don't know why. 95% of the reviews have been rave and i I rather get rave or bad reviews versus a mediocre review. It just coincides with my personality.
From saif@fas.harvard.edu: What are the additional videos that you plan to make from SMFTA singles?
Art says: We're not sure what the next video will be.
From eddoobie@juno.com: Do you dye your hair or your eyebrows?
Art says: I bleach my hair...I'm a Greek boy.
Congratulations to Harry Otal of Ann Arbor, Michigan. He's the proud owner of an Everclear prize package, including an autographed CD and poster, and the gift that just keep on giving, a stylish, black Ticketmaster Online t-shirt from your pals at All Access!
(I already am jealous.......let me have it Harry)
From ckat@xtra.co.nz: when are you guys coming down to new zealand again??
Art says: We hope to be in NZ in April of 1998
From josh@stuff.com: How do you handle the pressures of the road?
Art says: I don't know...I just love to work. I love to do what I do. I have agreat job. I've worked alot of crappy jobs and I've learned different ways of stress management. I just miss my daughter, but do talk to her everyday. The most important thing to me is my daughter.
From jader1@aol.com: Art, How come you never play Happy Hour live?
Art says: Because it's not one of our best songs, that's why its never made a record.
Congratulations to Michelle Halper of Chicago, IL. She's the proud owner of an Everclear prize package, including an autographed CD and poster, and the gift that just keep on giving, a stylish, black Ticketmaster Online t-shirt from your pals at All Access! (GIVE ME A PRIZE!!!!!)
From NightSurf6@aol.com: I just saw you guys play at Deep Ellum live on Friday and it was an awesome concert. I'm writing a review in our newspaper about it. I was wondering though, what is the meaning of "So much for the Afterglow"? Thanks!
Art says: Thanks that was a great show. Texas shows are always just
tremendoue. AS the title of the song it deals with the dissolving of a
relationship. As the title it works several differnet ways.
From loonatik@goplay.com: HEY Art!!!! I must say that I thik this is very cool that you are coming on the net to talk with your fans. Very good of you. Anyways, it tells me to ask a question so hear ya go: I was wondering in you new video 'Everything to Everyone' there are four people play an instrument (2 guitars one drmmer and you) But everywhere else I've seen you there are only three of you. I was wondering do you have a new band member, were there always 4 of you or was he just helping you guys out for that song or what's going on? Anyways...
Art says: There's only 3 of us, the other guy is Steven Birch our touring guitarist. He's been a long time friend and been involved creatively. We designed both album covers together.
Congratulations to Sarah Hammond of Tucson, Arizona. She's the proud owner of an Everclear prize package, including an autographed CD and poster, and the gift we just keep on giving, a stylish, black ticketmaster Online t-shirt from your pals at All Access!
(I never win anything)
From parisi@geffen.com: Please tell me what the song Strawberry is about? I love that song!
Art says: The Strwaberry came from when I was in Madison Wisconsin. I kept having this bad dream thinking I was going to fall off the wagon.. When I woke up I wrote the song and went down to the studio to record then had the other guys come in later
From jdesmond@semo.net: I noticed how you are always talking about how much your daughter, Anna, means to you in interviews - do you think that there might be any more kids in the future?
Art says: I'm going to respectfully say, maybe. I hope and would like to.
From jader1@aol.com: Art, will Everclear ever play in Santa Barbara?
Art says: We were trying to book a show in SB. We can't find a venue and
promoter that will help us out. We can't find a decent venue. We're still trying to get something at the University.
Congratulations to Joel Zimmerman of St. Louis Park, MN. He's the stunned yet pleased owner of an Everclear prize package, including an autographed CD and poster, and the gift we just keep on giving, a stylish, black Ticketmaster Online t-shirt from your pals at All Access! (I hope these people actually like Everclear)
From litlfish@socket.net: "white men in black suits" and "one hit wonder" are excellent songs. why haven't you been playing them live? also a great "old school" song is 1975. ever going to play that again?
Art says: We might play it again. To be honest with you, we have so many
songs to choose from, we try to stick to the ones that we like also. We're going to try to work some of those songs into our show, but we like our set list right now.
From pianta@earthlink.net: Do you ever feel uncomfortable with the way some of your female fans treat you?
Art says: I wouldn't say uncomfortable but I find it amusing that some girls that are alot younger come onto me. It amazes me, but doesn't offend me at all.
Congratulations to Lucianna Di Meglio of Farmingdale, New York for having such a cool name. On top of that, she's the serenely bemused recipient of an Everclear prize package, including an autographed CD and poster, and the gift she'll just keep on giving, a stylish, black Ticketmaster Online t-shirt from your pals at All Access!
(How much more can Ticketmaster dissapoint me?)
From arden_667@hotmail.com: Art, we met you at the Tower in Mercer (Seattle) and you said that you were interested in our demo. We were wondering if you were serious and still interested. If so, where should we send it? --Rhymes With Orange
Art says: Yeah, I remember talking to you. And yes, I'm still interested. You can send it to my PO Box at:

P.O. Box 15055

From jezebel@snet.net: how does art feel about forgiveness with all the pain he's endured in his life
Art says: I don't understand that question. I think that forgiveness is
important, but I'm the type of person that will forget, but not necessarily forget.
From marctmale@aol.com: who is california king really about?
Art says: Me. It was written looking at me through a jaundice eye. I was
poking fun at people who picked on us.. There's alot of tongue and cheek on this album that alot of people don't pick up on.
Art says: Although its 6:00 I would like to answer 3 more questions since I was late.
From litlfish@socket.net: who have you been listening to lately, as far as bands go? i saw you give a thumbs up on 120 min. when they played ben folds five..
Art says: I love Ben Folds Five. They're one of my top 5 picks of the year. I've been listening to a retrospective by X it's called "Beyond and Back."
From lexie@gemsi.com: when you get older and you know sort of forgotten and oprah asks you to be on her show will you say yes?
Art says: No. I hope I'm forgotten as far as fame goes. I really don't like fame. I try to make the best of it but I can garuntee you'll never see me on Oprah.
From yohko1@webtv.net: what type of guitars and amps do you use anyway?
Art says: I use different types. I like Gibson Les Paaul's. I have over 30 guitars. I use alot of differrent guitars in the studio.
From lexie@gemsi.com: how do you feel about people bootlegging your music?
Art says: I don't mind people bootlegging music because that's pretty much people that are fans. I wish I had control over what goes out because sometimes we have good and bad shows. I don't like when people bootleg t-shirts because they use cheap t-shirts and that's what puts food in my kids mouth. I urge people not to buy t-shirts outside the venue.
From poserr@hotmail.com: What is you favorite song from Sparkle and Fade?
Art says: Summerland. I think its the best song I've written and maybe the best song I'll ever write.
Art says: Thanks everyone for logging on and being patient. I look forward to seeing everyone either on this show or the next tour. Thank you Ticketmaster for having us. Thanks again!
