If you want your playing to sound a little more interesting, there are a variety of ways to do it. In this lesson I will attempt to show you a few methods of enhancing some of these simple melodies. I've told you to form your mouth around each note and play it without sounding the other notes. We will call this "puckering" the note. This is very good for playing one note at a time. You may ask, " What if I want to play more than one note at a time? Like chords on a piano... How would I do that?" One of the best ways to do that is by using your tongue. Basically you will form your mouth around 3 holes and use your tongue to block the first 2 notes, letting the remaining note sound. The note sounding will be the melody note. We will call this method "tongue blocking" or "tonguing". Practice playing a few melodies you have learned, using the tonguing method. As before letting only the melody note sound.
