Frames. They suck. I've only seen them used effectively once or twice (now three times, Lisa). Mostly they just clutter my screen with stuff I really don't want to see, or have already seen and don't want to see any more.
Pop-up Advertisement Windows. You know what I'm talking about -- you go to a page, and a new window opens with an ad saying how much better your life would be if you clicked here. So you're not stupid and you're pretty satisfied with your life the way it is, so you close the window and read the page you wanted in the first place, then go to the next page. Once again, the new window opens wasting your precious CPU time, so you close it and go on to the next page, and a new window opens.... Get the picture? Hello, GeoCities? Anybody home?
Huge Background Images. You're loading this page, right, and it seems like everything's there, and you want to go someplace else, but your browser is saying something like 8% of 239K. So you wait and wait and wait and then the background changes to a picture of a cat. And I hate cats!
Background Colors. Not all colors, just the ones that are very similar to the text, so you have to squint and get really close to the screen just to find out you're reading...
Endless Lists of Cyber-Friends. I don't care. These are people you wouldn't give the time of day if you met them on the street. If they have a home page and you want to put a link to it, fine. If you just want to mention their name (hi, Lisa!), spare me.
Automatic Loading WAV Files. So I'm sitting here waiting for your page to load, and it's taking forever, and then I get this stupid window for a sound clip of the Bee Gees. Spare me, puhleeze!
Stupid Java Prompts. Okay, so I go to your page, and this thing pops up and asks me my name. Okay. My name it Tim. So I look at your page, and it says to go to this page 'cause it's really "kewl", so I go, then I go back to your first page, and it asks me my name. Duh! I'm pretty bad with names myself, but give me a break! This is a frickin' computer we're talking about here! Does it really care what my name is? If it did, it would remember it!
People With NO Sense of Humor. The kind of people who don't realize that this whole page (or series of pages) is just my way of killing time and hopefully getting someone to smile. I know, it didn't work, but I don't care. I'm having fun.
