Subject: John HARDMAN Priv. Co.K. 125 Vol. Inft. (1846-1930) Ohio>Indiana,
To: HARTMAN-L@rootsweb.com
Looking for additional information on my great great great Grandfather John HARDMAN (Born: March 27, 1846 in Mahoning County, Ohio; Died: March 29, 1930 in Harrison County, Indiana).
He was a veteran of the Civil War. According to his obit, he was the last Union soldier alive in that part of the country. He was also the former President of Citizens Bank in Palmyra, Indiana.
On November 14, 1867 he married Mary HARTMAN (1848-Dec 12, 1940 both in Harrison County, Indiana). -- yes, it's true a HARDMAN married a HARTMAN. It gets rather confusing at Central Barren Cemetery outside of Salem, Indiana where most of the family is buried.
Together they had (3) children:
Barbara (my great great grandmother) (married Phillip HEINZ)
Zetta (married George RAAKE)
John aka "Little John" (he married and had one child - a boy)
I have some microfiche of the newspaper obit of both Mary HARDMAN (nee HARTMAN) & John HARDMAN, as well as the church program from John HARDMAN's funeral for kin or other interested parties.
I've always been interested in finding out more about my G3 Grandfather because we share the same birthday.
If this jives with anyone else's information, please either send a post to the list or e-mail me directly at dziga@hotmail.com
thanks,
