After coming up with meaningless names like "The Beatles" and the Indigo Guy and Girl", they finally got smart and chose images from nature that were truly inspiring to them. Diving into her past, Laurie recalled fond memories of climbing the lush flowering Dogwood trees which grew behind her childhood home. Meanwhile, Jonathan has had a love affair with the moon since being awestruck with the sight of the harvest moonrise in the Joshua Tree. Jonathan Grossman, the band's male vocalist/guitarist graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Traditional/Experimental music. An avid reader of Castaneda, Ayn Rand and Dr. Seuss, Jonathan brings thought-provoking, yet humorous lyrics to the music. Laurie Gunning, the female vocal powerhouse, has carefully honed her craft b studying voice for the past 5 years. She has the personality of the friendly "girl next door" and the voice of a boomerang. Having spent their early days singing on the Venice boardwalk, Dogwood Moon now performs coast to coast from The Roxy (LA) to The Bitter End (NY). Currently the are touring the coffeehouses, colleges and bars of California promoting their self-titled debut CD.
