Local rockers Young Art are taking their show on the road. the group, which showcases the bestin alternative pop songwriting and musicianship, performs original tunes built on strong melodies, heartfelt lyrics and lush harmonies. But it is the quartet's energetic live performance which separates them from the pack.

The band was co-founded by singer Dale Fisher and guitarist Shane Alexander, who collaborate on much of the material. They are a prolific creative force, with well over one hundred original songs to their credit. Bassist Josh Daum and drummer Josh Grolemund complete the lineup.

The band's history begins with Fisher. Before Young Art, he fronted the successful group The QKUMBRZ. His song "Hold Me Like You Used To Do" caught the attention of John Mellencamp, who asked Fisher to record it at his Indiana studio. The song is featured on the critically acclaimed soundtrack of Mellencamp's film "Falling From Grace."

An Iowa native who studied at the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston, Fisher plays keyboards, guitar, harmonica and flute in the band. His mach-4 piano work on the band's rendition of the Peanuts theme "Linus and Lucy" consistently floors audiences.

Shane Alexander's guitar defines the Young Art sound. A versatile musician who easily shifts from aggressive rhythms to tasteful leads, Alexander honed his chops after years in the improvisation-rich band Trippin'. While he shares writing credits on many songs, Alexander stresses the cooperative nature of the band's creative approach. "Everybody's ideas are incorporated into the whole process, from writing to arranging." Bassist Josh Daum, like Alexander, hails from Butler, Pennsylvania, where he played for years before moving to L.A. and temporarily joining Back Alley Sally. Daum also contributes backup vocals to the mix. The band went through several drummers before deciding to solidify the position once and for all. To do that, they looked eastward to a familiar place -- Butler, Pennsylvania. Long-time friend Josh Grolemund answered the call. He is among the best-known and most respected musicians in the Pittsburgh area where his band, Incognito, enjoyed enormous popularity.

Young Art's allure comes from its live performances. Rock fans everywhere will soon be able to hear for themselves.
