CELEBRITY GRAVE ROBBERIES
No.3: JOHN MILTON
In 1790 the grave of the English poet Milton, at St. Giles in Cripplegate, London, was raided by several souvenir hunters. One opportunist, the gravedigger Elizabeth Grant, was later found to be charging visitors six pence a time for a viewing of Milton's teeth and part of his leg.
