The Globe Arena is a large indoor arena, but when the Stones played there it felt just like a club gig. After all they are used to open air and could now enjoy the tight feeling and the close contact with the audience in a much smaller scale. Like Keith said: 'This is not a bad joint, you know'. It's also the first time in 25 years that they play indoors here in Sweden.
The sound was good, much better than at my seat at
Ullevi in Gothenburg. However Mick's
voice was not so strong. It almost sounded better when Keith started singing. But when
the band went down to the small stage in the middle of the floor Mick really lifted the
roof in 'Little Queenie', and the guys played some of the best rock'n roll I've ever
heard. The finish back on the main stage was also very good.
The set list was almost the same as at Ullevi, only three numbers had changed. The big surprice was that they skipped the Internet song, which the final vote list said should be 'Shine a light', and instead they played two extras: 'YCAGWYW' and 'Brown Sugar'. I wish they could have been a little more flexible and played some other classics like 'Let it bleed', 'Midnight Rambler' etc etc. There are so many of them. As a hole I put this tour after both Stockholm 1995 and Gothenburg 1990, but much better than Gothenburg 1982.
Here's the complete set list from Stockholm september 8:th 1998:
So now it's over. To see them again I would probably have to go all the way to England, where they are playing 1999. Let's just hope that Mick and the others enjoyed Sweden so much that they take a trip here too when they're still out on the road.
