Chapter Five

“Brian, you have a guitar I could use?” Juliet asked as she got ready to try out for the guys.

“Yeah, you can use mine.” Brian said and handed it to her.

“Ohhhh. I’m touching Brian’s guitar.” She joked. “Thank you, sweetie.” She said and kissed his cheek.

          “No problem.” He said.

“Hey!” Nick screamed.

“Whaaaaaaaa Nicky?” Juliet whined. Nick hugged her tightly and she was laughing. “Tooo… Tight, down.. boy.. Ahhh.” She said.

“Sorry.” He said. “But good luck!”

“Thank.. hi AJ.” She said as AJ pushed Nick out of the way to talk to her. She giggled. “Did ya have to do that? Look what you made happen.” She pointed to Brian, Howie and Nick sprawled on the floor. The other contestants were jealous of Juliet because she knew the guys and they were giggling like crazy.

“Sorry. But good luck. You’ll do great.” He took her into his arms, hugging her.

“Thank you AJ.” Juliet said, shyly. The guys moved into the seats as Juliet asked someone where she could practice. The guys began the gruesome task of picking the girl. Soon, Juliet arrived on stage, nervous as ever. “I am going to play and sing a song I wrote, it is called Summer Fun.” She began to strum a few chords that the guys recognized. It was the piece she was playing in the parking lot. Her eyes shut, letting her fingers once again take over the piece. Her sweet voice filled the room, “Summmmmer Funnnnnnn. It started after school, we met in line.” The guys looked at each other as her voice gave them shivers. “I was singing Grease and you were focusing on me. I stopped singing in time to find your eyes, staring at meeee. Me me me me. Staring at meeeee. Next time we met, you were acting with your group. I was so nervous, but you helped me through. I sang Amazing Grace looking at you. I won, but you didn’t care that you lost; you really wanted me to win.” The song went on and soon, her voice stopped and the guitar finished up the song. The guys clapped and applauded and hooted, as Juliet gracefully bowed and turned red. The guys eliminated a few groups and began to see how they could dance and sing acapella. Juliet was still in round three as the guys turned their attention back to the auditions. She was doing Let’s Have A Party. Juliet was going to cover every vocal ‘solo’ but not do the chorus parts where someone else sings. (If you’ve ever seen BSB homecoming, you’ll be able to visualize this next scene.) Juliet did the choreography perfect and sang great. The guys were a little upset that Juliet had done an NSYNC song for the acapella, but got over it once they saw Juliet do a song of their own. Juliet jumped off the stage, working with the audience, singing her heart out. She got the guys to have fun in the audience and had the rest rallied up, loving every second of it. She winked at them when she sang, “Lookin good.” She ended the song, now the audience roared, and applause was given, even from the workers backstage. The next part was picking someone to sing with. Juliet couldn’t decide if she should do Just To Be Close with them all or That’s What She Said with Brian. So, she was going to use the audience’s decision. “Hey, ya’ll.” Juliet said into her mic. “I have a predicament. Should I do Just To Be Close with every BSB or That’s What She Said with Brian?”

“BOTH!” The audience screamed back.

“Can I do that?” She laughed.

“It’s up to the boys.” One of the people in charge said and she squinted toward them, the light in her eyes.

“Sure.” The guys agreed and got up. “Brian and you first.” The guys ventured. So AJ, Kevin, Howie and Nick sat on the stage. Brian walked on stage, being handed a guitar and a mic.

“Can I have a guitar, too?” Juliet asked. Quickly, she was handed one with a pic. “Thank you.” She said, watching the blond with a cute butt walk away.

“Ahem.” Brian cleared his throat, following her gaze. She snapped from her gaze, slightly embarrassed that she had been caught. “Ready?” He asked as he strummed a few chords. She nodded, looking into his eyes. She sat on the floor, him following.

“Uh, what do I sing?” Juliet asked.

“We’ll switch, so you start first.” Brian said. She nodded and counted off, the two coming in together. Her eyes closed, her fingers doing all the work as Brian’s gaze was on her. The four guys watched as the two sang. Nick and AJ’s minds were alike; wanting to refuse that those two might just be perfect for each other. They definitely were a cute couple.

Juliet’s voice began to sing. “There are people who say what you wanna hear.” When she had ended that verse, Brian came in with his part. They continued the song like that, always knowing when the other was going to sing. Juliet eventually opened her eyes, only to fix on Brian’s as he sang. They ended the song together (author’s note: I just started singing 2gether. Haha. Whenever I have a word that is from a song, I start singing.. like in chapter 3.. anyways.. enjoy) and the crowd was up in arms.

“All right, guys. Get your butts up here.” Brian joked as he tore his eyes away from hers and handed his guitar to a stagehand. Juliet did the same and excepted Brian’s hand to help her up. “My lady.” He said.

“Gracias.” She said. He smiled as the group got mics to hold. “Are we doing this acapella?” She asked, kind of excited.

“If you wish.” AJ said.

“Yes!” She said and the guys laughed at her eagerness. “What do I sing?” She asked as her face grew serious.

“What can you sing?”

“Every part? Except the high high notes.” She said. Together they counted and began to sing, they let her sing Nick and AJ’s parts.. Juliet wanting to hear the master (Brian) at his solo parts.
