There are also several ways to insert sound as a background when the page loads. Beware! Before you use sound as a background, consider whether your audience will appreciate your attempt. If someone is at work or in a lab, will the sudden and unexpected sound embarass her or him? Is the page short enough that the audience will not tire of the sound before they are finished with the page? Explorer browsers recognize a tag that reads <bgsound src="soundfile.ext">, where "soundfile" is the name of the file and the ".ext" is the extension such as wav, au, aiff or midi. This is not recognized by Netscape browsers, however. If you want the sound to repeat you include an attribute with loop=[number of times to repeat] before closing the tag. To do something similar in Netscape, you use the embed tag as shown in the Netscape sound page below, but do not add a control panel.
