I went to see 'Life is Beautiful.' I had to see this movie after
I saw that little Italian man, Roberto cause such a scene at the oscars.
That movie was a treat. It is a side to the holocaust that needed
to be seen. After Schindler's List and other depressing reality
movies...here was a twist on the same situation. This darling little
Italian man is taking to the Nazi camps. his little boy is with him.
He doesn't want his child to be afraid or to understand the horror of what
is going on. So he makes a game of the camp, as if he signed them
up to go on a trip there. The whole time the little boy plays this
game. The father focuses on making something positive of the whole
thing to protect his little one. His sacrifice is so touching.
Stories of love and sacrifice must be told along with the man's in humanity
to man stories. I was very touched. Had I seen this movie before
the Oscars...I'd have been dancing on the tops of the chairs also.
