I am partial to odd names, mainly because I have lived with one all my life. Today I was wondering about the 1960s oldie, "Hang on Sloopy." Now some guy wrote this song about a girl with that name. Guys write songs to get girls, right? So there must have been a real girl named Sloopy. Was this like a pet name he gave her? And why did she earn such a name? All I can remember is him inviting her to hang on and let her hair hang down all over him. Are you getting a mental picture here? Now this was a hit over 30 years ago. So that means Sloopy is probably in her late 40s or early 50s. I wonder if she made it through the late 1960s. She seemed a bit loose. Maybe I should check the Dead People Server for "Sloopy."

This makes me think of another song about a girl. Mony. Mony is another strange name. It doesn't sound very flattering. But she made him feel so good. Maybe the guy really loved some girl named Tony and that just didn't sound good when he sang "Ew I love you Tony T-T Tony." I said yeah. Mony is also in her late 40s or early 50s. Maybe she's Grandma Mony. I wonder what she thought when Billy Idol redid the song in the 80s.

If anyone knows the where abouts of Sloopy and Mony, please contact me. These things keep me up at night.
