from the hotel This is a shot of downtown Jakarta taken from Jan and Pete's hotel. Actually it bears a very strong resemblance to East Croydon. My brother has a similar tendency when taking photographs: wherever he goes in the world, however exotic, all the photographs he brings back look like views of Croydon. Home is where your heart is.

The I-ROSS team
The I-ROSS team in Jakarta. Most of the people shown are accountancy personnel for all the
reconciliation work. Reconciliation involves securing agreement between creditor and obligor (the company that owes the money) on the exact amount of the debt. |

Pete is more informally dressed than the others
because he was about to go on holiday the following day. In many ways this is a picture which could have been taken in any office in England. |

On the way up to the top. |
Pete relaxes on a pile of very hard and uncomfortable rocks while he waits for the sun to rise. The white dot to the right of his head is the moon. |
It's not all work on the I-ROSS project. Time-off has been in short supply because of the long working hours but the team did find the time to do a little bit of mountain climbing on the small island of Lombok, just to the east of Bali. They hiked up to the top of a dormant volcano on the island and waited for the sun to rise. They were rewarded with spectacular views and Pete managed to take some really atmospheric photos, a few of which are reproduced here. |

Steam rising from a volcanic crater on the island of Lombok. It took several hours' hard walking to reach the summit of the volcano. |

I'm not quite sure what this picture represents. It looks like Little Red Riding Hood against a backdrop of sky but it's probably someone in the latest climbing gear from Goretex. |
Final, damning proof!
One of my e-mails to Jan in Jakarta about rumours of EY girls in swimming pools produced nothing but indignant denials from Jan. But here is the proof, courtesy of Pete's camera. This was their 'personal' swimming pool in Bali. It looks a little bigger than Jan gave it credit for being. Undeniable evidence of girls in pools. |
I love the contrast between the five exited people at the front and the demure, detached guy at the back. The bubbles rising from behind the chap on the left are a bit worrying as well. Did everybody leave the pool very hurriedly after the picture was taken? |
