rena del pieve gobbi is the oldest in the production inventory of greg and barbara gobbi. this gobbi family began in sept 1963 in vancouver when barb and greg were married. due to the well known pronouncements forbidding the use of contraceptives by the catholic church and the not so well known sex-drives of the gobbi family one year following this event rena arrived followed by jenine, nicole, michael, david, frances, vanya and philip. as one can well imagine it is almost prohibitively expensive to have so many children. barbara was obviously too busy to work outside the home. the solution was for the gobbi family to live on a farm. so that greg teaching salary was supplemented by the wholesale production of vegetables and the luxuriant supply of milk through beauty the family cow. gus, charlie, holay, and sandy  made the ultimate sacrifice to the family table. perhaps also contibuting to the early conversion to vegetarianism of frances and vanya.

it is not easy belong the oldest of eight children or even being one of the other eight. perhaps this is why the younger generation is somewhat slower to reproduce than their parents. there is only one, julian, two years old in september 1999.
