San Diego, California
January 11, 2003

Went across New Mexico and Arizona. Arizona was interesting. Part of the highlights was to see a monument of the spot where Geronomo gave up. We also saw a few ghost towns along the way, and we went to Tombstone, Arizona, which I loved!! That is the city where BOOT HILL is at filled with famous gunslinger graves. The OK Corral is also in that town. Wyatt Earp and many others were in that town. Most of it still intact as it was in the frontier town days. Lots of cool stuff, and a few odd tourists!! Some tourists who took it way too serious and walking around with long trenchcoats looking like they were going to gun someone down as well! Quite an interesting little place though.

We were also anxious to get to San Diego though. Lots of new things developed here though. For one, along the way, my girlfriend talked to her cousin who informed her she had a letter waiting in California from her Dad. To make a long story short, it looks like her Dad is in ill health, and her mom has some other health problems as well, and she's going to be heading home to help take care of them for the indefinete future. So basically I'm on my own in San Diego for the time being.

San Diego is quite a dynamic place. Downtown its advertised to have 44 bars within an 8-mile radius.. and thats definetely true.. its extremely lively!! I'll be going into more and more detail about the different neighborhoods over my time here in this city. Now that my girl won't be with me, I'm playing with the idea of other options, perhaps joining her in the Philippines for awhile, or trying to teach English abroad in Taiwan or Korea or somewhere. Lots of possibilities, or I'll stay by in San Diego and start working and we'll be going longdistance for awhile. Kind of a shock, but her family is extremely important to a Filipina, so you have to respect that.

For the most part though, all is well. I'll be doing a road trip north soon. Up into Fresno, Sacramento, and San Francisco and back down to San Diego. Basically doing a tour of potential graduate schools I'd potentially like to be enrolled in September. Anyhow, lots of things going on here in my mind. Looking for apartments, spending lots of gas and hotel money that I don't have, looking for work, separating for the indefinete longterm with a girl I care alot about, and being solo in San Diego.
