Description
This 20000 sq. ft. two story building
is the location for one of our Richland County Resale store operations.
In addition to store operations as described in the Richland County
web page, the facility serves as a base for Volunteers of America
who team with the RICHLAND MALL, THE NEWS JOURNAL, Y-105 and WMAN/WYHT
radio to manage a number of other Outreach programs which occur
at various times of the year. These Outreach programs are:
Volunteer
Caregivers
The Volunteer Caregivers Program is about touching
lives-those who give and those who receive.
It's about building community through countless acts of neighbor-to-neighbor
service. Caregivers do whatever it takes to assist the elderly,
disabled and individuals at risk to live with independence and
diginity.
School of Hope and
Scholastic Book Drive
The School of Hope
is a charity drive run by Volunteers of
America. The drive raises esential items including clothing,
shoes and back to school items for over 500 deserving
children. The Scholastic Book Distribution Program
is a partnership between Volunteers of America and Scholastic
Books, Inc. which has provided over 18,000 new books to children
in our community.
I Remember Mama
Volunteers of America hosts this festive
occasion for senior women who might otherwise spend Mother's Day
alone. Volunteers of America honors approximately 150 women with
dinner, entertainment, gifts and memories they will always cheerish.
