You Say You. "Want This?!" by NJVal ......Back

I have been wondering if I should use a "Password" to access my site. It appears that there are people who are linking to pictures and sounds on some Internet sites. (Click Here) I cannot understand why anyone would want to do this unless they do not know they can actually have the "whatevers" if they are of course in the public domain.

All the animated graphics and the midis on this site were found in the public domain to my knowledge. Because of this, all of these animated graphics and midis are "grabbable". To do this one only has to select the thing and then right click to bring up his menu . This menu brings up the directories in your own computer where you can save "whatever" to your own computer's hard drive. Where the authors are mentioned it stands to reason that if you want it, please copy the author or 'sequencer' also. As I paid for the life-like pictures, only I can use the background pictures (like those that are taken with a camera that I worked with). I made this background and anything that doesn't have like a 'real life' thing in it I say, "I'm flattered you like it.(Click Here) Go ahead and take it as a background, Be my guest."

Again:

The way I understand it is that if a person wants to link to a site the requirement is that it has to have the http:// thing and the ending is supposed to be a html or an htm thing . However, that html or htm has to be located in the address section not in a paragraph of the "view source". Remember, to produce a site you link a bunch of your own pages first; and that means that I have to link my stuff together with the hyperlink feature first which makes my "ingredients" an html before it ever gets to the Internet. Of course you may see a bunch of html's in my source but that is not their address on the Internet. After I invent a page full of my own stuff (all html stuff) then I a save it all together as one page with an address such as :-

http://blah blah.com/njblah/pageone.html

You're not supposed to link to something that has a .gif or a .midi extension that is seen in the view source as it puts a strain on the other person's bandwidth because these are ingredients in the page itself and not the actual address of the page. (Click Here) A page can have other html's, gifs, midis, and more: but they are not the address of the page but are the 'ingredients'. So if you find something in the source code that says winter.html and you link to that thing you are actually using my bandwidth because you are not using the address I have given it. I do not wish to break any of the 'rules' and I'm hoping other people would also not break the 'rules' knowingly. It will be a terrible thing if the day comes when everything on the Internet is totally governed by 'who?'. (Click Here) It's a wonderful thing to be able to share without unnecessary restrictions. I do not want to have to "Password" this site and I'm hoping I won't ever have to.
