"Astrology ..Something Else"
By NJVal
"Astrology..Something Else" is a deeper explanation into the realm of astrology. It takes for granted that you have a somewhat idea of the different Sun types (Aries to Pisces) as seen in the daily newspaper. It will give you a new understanding of the depth of this subject in one of the areas you probably haven't even heard about that you can apply to your own life today.
We are now in or are going into the "Age of Aquarius". It varies as to which author you are reading and the study of metaphysics is burgeoning.
"Metaphysics is a branch of philosophy that systematically investigates the nature of first principles and problems of ultimate reality, including the study of being (ontology) and, often, the study of the structure of the universe(cosmology)".
I can even take this one step further now as scientists have developed something called the "Quantum Theory". This investigates the insides of an atom and the effects or energy released by the internal electron. So humanity is not just searching outwards for answers, but also inwards for answers to the old question of "Why?".
"Astrology..Something Else" is offered by me as a contribution in the hopes that this 'eye-opener' may help you to better understand the unseen forces that are shaping your life. One of my pet statements is, "A cricket is similar to a grasshopper and they are sort of alike, but in nature you will never find them together". The truth is, it is the same with people. Certain people should never go with other certain people even if they are in the same environment. It has nothing to do with what we look like on the outside. It is the unseen energies here I am talking about.
Why have I spent time on this 'frivolous' subject many have asked me. It is truly amazing, enlightening, and answers a lot of questions that bother a lot of people. It answers a lot of questions like "I don't know why I don't like that person!" or, "It was truly love at first sight!"
Astrology has many features if I can say it like that. One of the features is that a person can determine if the timing is right for doing something. This means that if you're not good at something to begin with, the odds are whatever you will be doing will turn out okay because so to speak "the force is with you", or to put it another way you might be feeling lucky. In reality, astrological influences (energies) are positive for you. This means that all your beneficial energies are being utilized which can put you 'over the top' of anything that might be problematic for you usually.
The study of astrology falls into different categories. It is multifaceted. First we start with a birth chart also called the natal chart. This chart can show our strengths and weaknesses as an individual at birth. It can reveal traits such as, in what manner do we think, fast or slow? It can show if we are basically physical type people who probably like to participate in sports, or another type that would prefer to be the observer of sports instead. It can show whether a person's emotions are in conflict with their thoughts as in 'good aspect' or in 'bad aspect'. The birth chart shows us the 'astrological ingredients' in us. Whatever signs the planets are in at your birth never changes. Notice I said planets and not just the Sun?! The effects (as in good aspect or in bad aspect) of these planetary influences on you during your lifetime does change because the planets are constantly rotating and moving towards or away from each other.
Then we have current charts and progressive charts. You can chart yourself as you live your life to see what type of influence the planets are having on you now or will have on you in the future. We can even do charting for countries called mundane charting. This, of course, usually deals with finding out the planetary influences that are involved during major changes in a country's politics, etc.
Now we come to the facet that I find the most interesting called "comparison composite charting". This is not to be confused with "composite charting" which is doing a simple summary of your own planets to find out the signs they are in for your own chart. Comparison composite charting is where the signs of the planets in your chart are compared with the signs of the planets in someone else's chart. This is where my studies have been concentrated because people have always fascinated me. This is where we are going now and I will show you how to also get involved in this and why you should.
Every person is affected by ten "planet" influences and more such as the Ascendant and other moons like Chiron, or even an asteroid called Vesta. The Moon is included as a planetary-type influence, even though it is not really a planet. The definition of influence is: "A power indirectly or intangibly affecting a person or a course of events". As each planet rotates it goes through a different sign just like the Sun. The 12 different signs are: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and finally Pisces. Sometimes planets can have bad aspects when they are at certain distances from each other. The aspects do change as the planets rotate. However, the signs they are in, in your birth chart, do not change. Some signs get along better than others do. Signs are qualities. The definition of quality is: "The essential character of something; the nature of", or, "An inherent or distinguishing characteristic". The combination of signs in our own individual chart just makes us the special people we are. The major importance here is when we compare the signs of the planets in our chart to the signs of the planets in other people's charts.
Each planet has its lessons that we have to deal with as we go through our life. The Sun represents our individual way of doing or getting involved with things. The Ascendant (not a planet but your first house rising sign-later described in this writing) is how we appear to do things and look in other people's initial opinions or viewpoints. The Moon represents our emotions. Venus represents how we think about love. Mercury deals with the speed of thought. Mars deals with our strength. Uranus deals with our will power. Jupiter deals with our good luck and if we do things a certain way we will have good luck. One of the hardest planets to deal with is Saturn. This planet is our 'taskmaster'. As an example: When you were a kid you might not have liked to make your bed in the morning but by the time you were 'wise' you knew it was a good thing to make your bed in the morning or whenever you woke up. Saturn gets the job done and the good habits in place. If you don't wise-up then you have the headache of living with the alternative. Saturn never gives up. It's either do the job or live with the headache, not much choice here. Continuing, we also have Neptune which represents 'charm' or personal magnetism, meaning if we behave that certain way indicated by the sign Neptune is in, then others find us charming, i.e., you may have a Virgo Sun sign but your Neptune is in Pisces so therefore if you behave in a Piscean way you will be found to be especially charming to another whose Sun, Moon, Venus, or Ascendant is in Pisces provided that the aspects are good. Finally, we have Pluto which represents our philosophies and how we think politically and otherwise about our earth. These are simplistic interpretations of what the planets are involved with but is adequate for the purpose here. Understanding these energies and their combinations and aspects when thought of as in comparison composite charting will give you insight into the power of legendary people like Rasputin or Svengali.
Understanding these energies can also reveal the reasons why certain teenagers have banded together so easily in an effort to find that certain rapport which is so necessary for human satisfaction and identification. The definition of rapport is, "Relationship, esp. one of mutual trust or emotional affinity". The definition of affinity is, "A natural personal attraction". You may be one individual in a very large family and have no rapport or connection whatever to your genetic family due to the cosmic arrangement of your qualities and aspects. On the other hand, this statement alone can vindicate the parent who tried so hard to reach his or her offspring but could not connect. We all have our own cosmic lessons to learn in this life.
To have a genuine, personal bond with another person it is imperative that particular planets are in the same sign in both of your individual charts. When it comes to making lasting relationships that are deep or intimate where there is a special rapport and you know it, then there is no such thing as "these signs go together because they are water signs, or fire signs, or whatever signs". This information is in direct conflict with everything you have ever read about astrology because what you have read is extremely general or 'one size fits all'. It is true that you can 'get along' better with someone whose Sun sign is in the same element such as fire, air, earth, or water as your Sun sign, but,-if we are talking about boyfriend-girlfriend, that kind of relationship, not only is it important that the majority of your elements be in the same thing (air, earth, etc.) but you must also have a particular combination of planets in the same sign between your charts. It is a necessity that the planets in your chart are in tune with the other person's planets in their chart. Planets that go retrograde or change their spinning direction even temporarily affect relationships. I think people can instinctively feel this without really knowing what it is. Too many people delude themselves about their relationships and in the end suffer a great deal. Having an intimate physical relationship with someone is nothing more than that, if there is nothing more than that; and a relationship has to be more than that if it is to last.
I have included specifics written by another astrologer. Why this lady's writings have not been more publicized I do not know. She did work for an American president at the White House a few decades ago and was popular then. I do know that she is or was (don't know where she is now) 100 percent right-on with what she said. I have studied her writings for twenty years. In fact, she was not the first to say what she said. It was said in the 1600's by one of our 'astrological forefathers' but was worded so scientifically it was almost impossible to understand. Joan Quigley put this information into modern day English. Unfortunately, the art of interpretation can be overwhelmingly strenuous, especially when one is doing work for a large quantity of people. Not only does it deal with mathematical calculation involving 'pinhead precision', but also intuition and imagination coupled with an unbelievable determination. This could be one of the reasons we haven't heard from her lately. I have included information that came from her book called "Astrology for Adults" by Joan Quigley. I have studied this information and conclude it is the truth. You will be able to judge for yourself.
Then we have something called the Ascendant. This is the ascending or rising sign at your time of birth that 'colors' or lends its qualities to your first house and this house is involved with individuality. This is how other people see you at first even if the majority of your planets and Sun are in a different element (water, fire, etc.) than your Ascendant. The first house represents the individual self and the planets found in this house are very significant in your life. Remember you get your Sun sign from the time of the year you are born -but your Sun can be positioned in a different house than your first house. Your Sun will influence the house it is positioned in but the ascending sign is always the sign of the first house and the initial quality that others see in you.
There are other influences like the Midheaven, and the newly discovered stars or moons such as Chiron, etc. If you want to get really detailed astrological information you will have to get a professional astrologers "opinion" or interpretation of the good or bad aspects involved. This requires 'pinhead precision' which will defeat the purpose of what I am giving you now. I want this to be easy for you as it can be.
Something Else....
As I previously said, astrology is multifaceted. However, it does not predict the outcome of whatever you are doing. That would be prophesying. The definition of prophesy is: "To reveal by divine inspiration"; "To predict the future". Astrology does not predict the outcome of future events for you. That would be "fortune telling". Astrology is not "fortune telling". Astrology can tell us when we can relax a little in our life such as in 'things come naturally with no sweat', or have to "buckle-up" for the bumpy road ahead. You can "buckle-up" like the little squirrel that puts his nuts away for the winter, go to school and get a diploma, take classes in diplomacy, etc. Prepare!
Although astrology can do a lot for you -(it involves us and the people around us -some would say even animals),-one thing it cannot do is reveal someone's morality and, of course, animals have no capacity for morality, do they?!. In other words, you might be able to get along with someone very well, (this is astrological), but if you happen to be an angel and the other person is a devil you're in for trouble even if your astrological aspects are good or even great. How you decide to deal with what's going on around you is your choice regardless of any astrological aspects. Morality involves the conscience. Astrology is not concerned with the spiritual or with matters of morality or in matters of decision making. It does not "kick you over the edge" to make a decision. Knowing astrology can 'tune you into' the positive energy or the negative energy that surrounds you, but what you dish out to others involves your conscience. Of course, if you're dealing with someone who has no conscience you will understand why you were attracted to that person in the first place (if you ever were) after reading this. I decided to visit a Catholic priest one day although I am not a Catholic but am a Christian, and ask him what he thought about studying astrology. He told me that even the Vatican has studied astrology. He reminded me that the three "Wise Men" followed the star to Bethlehem. He told me that I could use astrology for a 'guide', but not as a 'god'.
The most important feature of astrology is not, "When is it a good time for us?", or, "What can we be good at?", but is really this: "Why is it we can't get along with our co-workers?" Or, "Why does my child behave this way towards me?" Or, "Why can't I understand my spouse or significant other?" These are the questions and others like them that I have written this for. The purpose of this is to help you 'get a grip on the situation' so you can take charge of your life. The end result of this is to give you peace of mind and a new sense of being. If you are confused about the people in your life I am hoping this will give you the edge to "see the light". Sometimes we are the black swan in the group of ducklings and we just haven't figured it out yet because we haven't looked in the mirror.
Would you believe?! I have come across all of the tools necessary for you to do some investigative work for yourself for free on the Internet. Wow! I have checked it out and it is wonderfully accurate. Don't be overwhelmed by this statement. It really is quite easy to do.
You will be able to do composite charting for yourself if you have the basic information available such as birth date and place. Having the time would be nice, however, if not then 12 A.M. will suffice. Many people really don't know the time of their birth. The thing that will be in question if you don't have the time usually will be the sign the Ascendant is in. However, by using a little intuition you might be able to figure this out by observing the person's appearance. Each of the 12 signs are very distinctive in their own right and you only have to deal with 2 signs which cover a time stretch of about 48 hours. When you put the time in as 12 midnight or 0000 military hours you will be given a sign for the Ascendant and you will use either that sign or the sign that follows that. Not having the time should not deter you from getting involved with this. The tools give you everything else you need to know such as longitude, latitude, etc.
Please note:
One requirement to use these tools is that it be for non-profit usage. Please don't abuse this! I think that this is quite fair considering the work other individuals did in order to make this information universally available for gratis for world-wide enlightenment!
To Further Clarify
To further clarify some confusing things you will see: There are various ways of putting the planets into different houses as with using the Placidus system or the Equinox system,(there are more systems than these) etc. What this means is that each system places your planets into the houses using its own method. Circle or not, the planets distances between themselves is calculable whether the earth is spinning in a circle (Placidus method) or in a pear shape (Equinox method). Picture the atmosphere around the earth that the earth is spinning in. This is where the houses are located, of course. One method says that area is divided equally into 12 houses (Placidus) and the other says the Earth is pear shaped and so the houses vary in size (Equinox). Okay, so this is important if we want to know what houses are affected by what planets. Each house, there are 12 of them, represents a different aspect of life such as how we handle our individuality, our money, our relatives, etc. Right now that's not where we are going. We do not need to be concerned with the houses for now because we are not doing 'pinhead precision' astrological charting. We are concerned about comparing our own planets in the different signs with someone else's planets in the different signs. We can use the Placidus system which divides the heavens that we are working with into 12 houses using the circle theory. The Placidus system works well enough and that is why a lot of astrologers use it. I agree. However, whatever system you pull up in the tools, make sure you use the same system to do all of your work or your comparisons will be off due to the nature of the differences in the systems.
Additionally: After compiling the information you will see the areas where you do not touch bases at all with the other person. No one's chart is in perfect harmony with anyone else's. However, if there are no major 'contact' points between the two charts it does not mean you cannot have a friendship with the person; just simply that it cannot honestly go deeper than friendship as in a mutual respect.
Congratulations! You have now done
Comparison Composite Charting!
Hopefully I have introduced you to a new outlook on life that will prove enlightening for you. There is much, much more involved with this subject and how to interpret all this is the key. It can be a very time consuming and very intense subject to deal with. However, the lightest aspect of it is the composite charting in my estimation.
Unfortunately, Joan Quigley's "Astrology for Adults" book is a bit outdated due to the fact that her charting information ends around 1959,(I think it was), even if you could get it right now. However, it was very excellent and was the book that involved me with astrology in the beginning. The best part of it for the purpose needed here, I have copied for you.
