Ruth Basler Burr "My greatest pleasure is to be able to share the wonder of a special place or moment through my paintings.  Any talent I possess is a gift from God, for which I am very grateful."  Full of peace, joy, and adventure, Ruth Basler Burr's paintings mirror the person.

As a professional artist, Ruth has been featured as "Artist of the Month" at the Bullocks showrooms for ten years.  With over 65 solo shows to her credit, she has sold in excess of 2,600 paintings to private and corporate collectors all over the world.  The TransAmerica Corporation commissioned her to paint 72 scenes of the West for their offices.  Other corporate collectors include: Glendale Federal Bank, The Robinson Development Co. of Newport; Weyerhaeuser Corp. of Washington, Exclamations of San Francisco, The Headington Companies of Dallas; Ingham Coates and Payne of Pasadena; and many professional offices.

Hospitals finding her work soothing to their recovering patients include U.C.L.A., FHP, Arcadia, and Irvine Medical Centers.  The California Institute of Technology in Pasadena has 42 of her original paintings in their collection.  Other original paintings hang in many of the South land's churches, including the La Canada Presbyterian, and Glendale Methodist. Ministers of the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, Laguna Presbyterian, La Canada Methodist, and San Pedro Presbyterian are among her clergy collectors. Resorts owning her works include: Ben Brown, Laguna Beach; Glen Ivy, Corona; Ventana, Big Sur.

As a teacher of painting, she has devoted 12 years sharing her knowledge, skill and inspiration to over 600 students, some of whom are today's highly regarded artists.  Ruth has taught in the adult division of the Los Angeles city schools, Pasadena City College and Brand Art Center in Glendale. She received her training at UCLA, Glendale and Pierce Colleges, and studied with more than 50 of the world's leading artists.

After living for 29 years in La Canada, California, Ruth and husband, Lawrence moved to a hilltop in San Juan Capistrano, with a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean, Dana Point Harbor and surrounding hills and valleys.  She has received fresh inspiration from her new location and garden, which flourishes in the sea air.

While competition has never been a goal, her works continue to garner top awards. Her watercolors, notochords and limited edition lithographs are sales leaders at the Laguna Beach Art-A-Fair Festival, her annual one woman show in Descanso Gardens, Art Expo, and the many galleries that represent her work.  Listed in "Who's Who in American Art", she has been honored as one of the demonstrating artists featured in the fine arts building of the Los Angeles County Fair.

Each of her limited edition lithographs is a 22x30 image, on 100% rag paper, using the finest inks., signed and numbered, and includes a certificate of authenticity.

Responding to many requests for limited editions on a larger format, Ruth has added  giclée editions to available works of art.  These can be had in several sizes, up to a 29x41 image, on the same rag watercolor paper that she uses for her paintings.  Until this time the only available medium to accomplish this end was a serigraph, which she has resisted because the subtle nuances of her beautiful watercolors would be lost. Now, at last, it is possible to have the best of both in the giclée .

Many of her watercolors are now also available as tapestries, hand woven by artisans in Pondicherry, India.  Each can be had in 4 sizes: 24x40, 30x48, 36x60, 48x72.

An exquisite book, entitled the Art of Ruth Basler Burr" may be purchased.  It contains 106 color plates on 65 pound cover paper and is beautifully bound in linen. 90 Black and white photos illustrate her sojourn into the art world.
