"Okayness...." April 15, 2000
One Before Midnight...
....in the wake of a portentous day.
One foreshadowed by Alyx's discharge from the hospital yesterday.
Yes, after being poked, prodded, jabbed, x-rayed, radiated, biopsied, and operated on, I guess the hospital figured they had enough information to go on in treating Alyx's Hodgkin's. His being home is certainly something we all are going to benefit from. While the treatment is not going to be a picnic, at least he will be able to be in the comfort of his own surroundings while enduring it.
And what better a way to honour his homecoming than The Goddess treating Karyn (along with dear Rhiannon), to a makeover whilst Alyx and I entertain ourselves, and his kids, at his place.
It was a warmer day than previous days this week; despite the sun being shrouded by thick, partially grey clouds, it radiated a heat sufficient enough to force one to want to be outdoors. There was enough breeze to make one appreciate these early Spring days that last not long enough before the oppression of Summer's almost intolerable heat.
Despite waking early to The Goddess taking Moo outside for pees and poos, despite having a slight hangover and sleeping only three or four hours because I just had to see the 3:00am showing of Oz, I was energized today. Perhaps it was in the waking knowledge that I had no clients scheduled today. Perhaps it was the fresh Spring breeze cascading through my robe as I took Reekie for pees and poos. Perhaps it was a combination of the two.
Regardless, after a few cups of java, complimented with that many cigarettes, a scratch here and there, and a hot tubby soak, I was off to Alyx's for the afternoon.
We played crib (he lost three to one, heh heh), painted with the kids, played with the pups (Reekie and Moo are always expected to accompany me), and had a wonderful dinner. Freda joined us late in the afternoon, and the only piece missing was Lowlandz and his clan, who had other plans for the afternoon. 'Tis a consequence of quick planning, but they were missed.
This evening, The Goddess and I are enjoying more than one shot of tequilla, having hot tuby soaks, and just generally taking it easy while we drink a hearty cup of okayness.
And before closing, I want to make mention of fellow journaller, Von's, photograph in her entry for April 14th, 2000. I see it, too, Von. I am glad you do as well.....
....Blessed Be...
