Record of Life: Seagull Series

S eagull is such a primitive camera. I'm not saying the design (although it is REALLY primitive), I'm saying the attitude. It just brings me back to the old day, while "camera" is nothing but "a box to contain the film and prevent it from accidental exposure". The simple "click" noise of the lens leaf shutter is just like a little ring compare to the advance curtain shutter nowaday.I re-learn photography from the Seagull, and thanks to the 6x6 size, it lead me into the wonderland of large print size such as 11'x14'. Once I try the medium format, I can understand why people can't go back to35mm film. Boy, the details in the pictures is so beautiful~!T he only bad thing about the Seagull is its reliability. I just can't really trust it if I work on something important. So I switch to a Mamiya C330 now. Anyway, this Seagull is still my first and unforgettable medium format camera. |
