The True Nature of Mirrors
I was looking at myself in the mirror the other day; and then I stopped. Sometimes its hard to look at yourself in the mirror for more than a brief second. Actually, when you look into a mirror and are expecting to see a certain image and then you find out that the image youre seeing is absolutely nothing like the image you had pictured in your mind, it can be really frightening devastating even. To get shocked like that and realize that you were dead wrong; about something of which you were so certain mere seconds before! After all, with something so common as your own reflection, you can get pretty cocky and start to think it will always be the same in every mirror that you see. But you have to admit, not every mirror is the same. You cant tell me that you havent given at least some thought to those mirrors that are guaranteed to give you a nasty start; those mirrors that are just different. So why do you get so upset and even worried when you see those inevitable and, indeed, unbearable images which are evidently your own reflection?
Well, I cant presume to judge. In fact, Id be a liar if I said that I had never witnessed this phenomenon. After all, I look into a lot of mirrors. Im just as curious as the next guy. And you know what? Ive noticed that these mirrors are actually not as uncommon as I once thought. Furthermore, they are quite easy to find once you know what youre looking for. And you really do have to know what to look for because these mirrors are never really obvious. Im sure youll be surprised to find out that, after looking into many many mirrors, I can even tell you that I believe even mirrors you once looked in, unafraid, thinking them to be quite normal, are, in fact, of the same sort as these other mirrors which seem to have aroused such an exciting controversy. Now, I know what youre thinking, but I say that once you start finding more and more of these mirrors and seeing all the different things they reflect, you begin to wonder how you managed before, always seeing the same image in absolutely every mirror.
Well, you may now think me an incredibly long-winded liar or you may think this to be an interesting glimpse into the still widely unrecognized field of mirrorology. Whatever you may now believe, I hope that I have successfully sparked a bit of an interest into the study of the true nature of mirrors.
