Kliewe Family Highlights for 2004
<2003 2005>
- January
- After Harry gets his pet mice, Sam considers giving up his pet fish.
"We can flush them!" Harry suggests.
"No!" we say. "It's wrong to kill them."
"OK", he says. "Then we can just stop caring for them."
- February
- Sam gets a tooth pulled at the dentist. Oddly enough, the laughing gas has no discernible effect on him.
- March
- John and the kids start reading the Bible every night. Harry points out that things were easier in the old days, when
God just walked around like everyone else.
- April
- Sam the Tycoon explains the Standard & Poor. "Poor is the poor people. And Standard is the regular people,
like us."
- May
- We rent "The King and I" and Harry says "Yul Brynner reminds me of myself."
"You don't look like Yul Brynner" Sam points out.
"Not the way he looks," Harry says. "The way he is."
- June
- We replace the dryer vent hose and realize how much we've been suffering for the past 8 years.
- July
- Our Bible reading continues. Sam promises to name his first two kids Uz and Buz (Gen 22:21).
- August
- We see Spiderman II, which leads the boys to wonder what Spiderman XIX will be like :
"My spider senses tell me that it's time to take my medication."
- September
- More Bible reading introduces us to the Hittites(Gen 23:5), the
Amorites(Gen 14:7), the Jebusites (Gen 15:21), and the Pants-too-tights (??).
- October
- Now we're up to Exodus and the story of Moses. Harry asks "if she drew him up out of the water, why didn't she name him Hoses?"(Ex 2:10)
- November
- Miriam's surprise 40th birthday party is a big success!
Sam says "Won't it be fun when Mom is 100 years old?"
Yeah.
- December
- Harry asks "what's quaint and spee?"
"What?"
"You know, as in 'should all the quaint and spee for God?'"
Should auld acquaintance be forgot...
Happy 2005!
