Kliewe Family Highlights for 2002
<2001 2003>
- January
- After renting "Yellow Submarine" we notice that Harry is starting to talk with a British accent.
- February
- The kids make valentines for their classmates. Sam writes a little compliment on each one. Our favorite: "Zoe, you have great self-control in Morning Meeting."
- March
- Miriam asks John to change the lightbulb in the entry hall. She watches in horror as the fixture comes crashing to the ground.
- April
- Harry orders a Belgian waffle at IHOP. "Do they call it a Belgian waffle because it makes you belge?"
- May
- Harry's Beatles phase continues. One night at dinner he asks "Mom, what's a Paperback Writer?"
- June
- Sam sees a couple kissing on the beach. He explains to Harry that it was "not just like a kiss goodnight, but for a long time. And they weren't even at a fancy restaurant!"
- July
- Miriam asks John to change the lightbulb on the porch. In the process, the fixture falls and breaks.
- August
- While on a camping trip John explains the facts of life to Sam and Harry. They could not have been less interested.
Meanwhile, back at home, Miriam notices that the guestroom ceiling light is out. She decides not to mention it.
- September
- A new school year! Sam becomes an expert on the earth's crust and Vasco de Gama.
The boys also determine that their dad really only has seven things to say. He just says them over and over and over...
- October
- John takes up Tai Chi at the gym. Anything to keep him away from the light fixtures.
- November
- At Sunday school, Harry tells the class that he's thankful for his health. "I used to be very sick," he explains. We checked his medical records but are still baffled.
- December
- Resolutions for 2003:
- Be careful with the lights.
- Don't kiss (or belge) at fancy restaurants.
- Practice self-control at Morning Meetings.
Wishing you the best of everything in 2003!
