Cheat on your wife, I don't care.
I don't care about Mexico, I don't care about L.A. You hurt people
in the Ghetto, you roll a bum, you kill a whore... and you are mine.
No cops. No trial. No mercy.
The people I protect don't have anyone else. The cops don't go where I walk. I save a bum's life, he gives me information. I get rid of the john beating the whores, they give me shelter. Some people give me money, others find ways to back me up.
You want to Prostitute yourself, it's a free country. But you don't deserve to be used, abused, or killed.
I'd like you to meet Jessi. She's into some weird shit, but knows the best detox methods in the he world. She's a good friend, I'll get to how I met her later.
Me? Name's Jasper, at least that's what I go by now. I was born in Philly, 1962. Did the usual urban kid things, went to school, didn't do drugs, went to an art school for college. Got a night job working as a bouncer at a strip club. One of the girls there was fantastic, a real dream. She was also a coke addict and a prostitute. I fell in love with her. Looking back, I noticed that she never knew.
Every once in a while, she would come in wearing extra make-up to cover the bruises. Then, one day, her pimp come to the club. He slapped her around, threaten to kill her if she didn't do a trick later that night.
As he left, I followed him, trailing him through the alleys. As he stopped to light a cigarette, I pounced on him. The rage pounded through my veins, I knocked his gun away, and bloodied my fist on his body. As he lunged for the gun again, a shadow flew across the alley. The newcomer kicked the gun away, and together beat the pimp to a bloody pulp.
We sat panting in the darkness of the alley. My fellow combatant introduced himself as Aaron. He had been watching the pimp for sometime, he said. He had also noticed me before tonight. Aaron smiled when I asked why he had been following the pimp. "Julius," he said, "is, or rather was part of the local mob, which is run by an enemy of mine." Aaron explained that he was looking for an excuse to take Julius out. he knew ways to get rid of the body, but given that I had landed the killing blow, it might not be wise for me to be out alone. . . . That was the night of my embrace into Clan Brujah.
I stayed in Philly for about five years. Taking care of the people in the Ghettos. I noticed that one of the vamps, some fuckin' blue blood, had the taste for whores. He'd kill three or four a week, just because no one would notice. Well, I noticed. . . . and before I killed him, I yanked his fangs. He don't have a taste for nothing, now!
This of course led to a blood hunt. So I got as far from Philly as possible. I went to San Francisco.
San Fran is where I met Jessi. What a doll, a bit amoral, but cute. She used to masquerade as a whore, playing with the pimps who thought they could own her. One day something very nasty came after her. I don't know what it was, I never saw it. I'm not even sure how I got her out of the building. All I know it that one of my bums dropped a dime, saying that there was trouble at one of the houses under my protection. I went, found a hole mess of strangeness, grabbed Jessi (whom I recognized from around town) out of harms way, and split. She never explained anything about that day, and I don't ask. It's better that way. We do talk about other weird shit all the time, I've even helped her with some of her "research." Gotta have something to do for eternity.
Speaking of hobbies, I saw this great movie while I was in Frisco called "The Crow." God, that just added to the image. Coming out of the theater, I decided that I needed to have a Raven for a pet. I had heard rumors of ghouling animals, and you need a special Talent for it. After a while, I ran across a raven at a pet shop in Berkeley, healthy, intelligent. It could even speak short phrases. He's been with me ever since. I've just waiting to find some one who has ghoul animals before I ghoul 'Jangles.'
I still do some sketch work, take care of Jangles,
call Jessi once a week, and protect the street people wherever I am.
And Now I'm coming to Denver.
