The real deal...

I was born 2 months premature, delivered by c-section to save my mother's life (she was hemmorhaging badly), and declared dead at birth. A priest came in to say the last rites, then called the doctor back. "He's not dead," said the priest. "He was a minute ago," said the doctor. What a way to begin life! I was declared dead again about eight months later, but was resuscitated by paramedics. I never did well in school. As a young child, I had several learning disabilities. By the time I entered high school I was extremely cynical and bitter about public education, and dropped out after one year. Later, I attended a continuation high school, where I was summarily and permanently expelled when I arrived two weeks late for the start of the semester. All together I attended a total of 3 semesters of high school. Since then I have worked as a bartender, street musician, palmist, gag-writer, welder, limo driver, construction worker, warehouseman, courier, prep chef, truck driver, electronics assembler, teacher, and performer. There's probably other jobs, but these are all that come to mind. I am deeply interested in ethnic/traditional music and dance of all types, specializing in English music and dance. I also dabble in Irish music, and have a fairly passable acquaintance with French music. I perform Dance with Pipe and Bowl Morris, and Newcastle Country Dancers. I am lead musician for Red Tail Morris and The Brunos. These are instruments that I play really well:

Mandolin; Mandola; Octave Mandolin; Guitar; Drum. These are instruments I play well: Fiddle; Bass; Banjo; Viola. These are instruments I can get by on, in a pinch: Whistle; Anglo Concertina; Saz; Doumbek; Recorder; most any fretted, plucked intsrument.

I am deeply in love with and happily married to an awesome woman named Sue. We met in 1975, started living together in 1977, and were married in 1981. She is my inspiration, as well as my best friend, confidante, and supporter. I love her to pieces.
