Reemergent
-----------

Ready for that dream to emerge,
we wait
wait for it to crystallize
it will be soft
soft not glassy spikes

we attained heights
birds in sheltering trees
having flown landed gently as one

moist verdant land we enjoyed together
background of towering mountain
loamy land supporting succulence
mist refreshing our skin
soft touch of moss on each cheek

We blinked once
the scene shifted
change came crashing crashing
made us a past and tomorrow
but stole stole our present

now I am alone
alone here hoping to find my feet
a direction to take

The way is concrete
my head's bowed bowed down
knees know sharded glass
embedding deep deep in my skin
I crawl slow slow slower

Random debris pelts pelts pelts me
carelessly tossed from passing cars
that threaten to crush crush me,
an insect on the faded line leading
long long long to the distance
but there - a glimpse I catch

an oasis an illusion
shimmering in the swelter
stinging stream drips drips down my face
makes me fight fight to keep my eye open
keep keep keep it on that green
beyond the endless endless sand
that dream of you with me, reemergent
