the Tower
------------------------

drop burdens, all the hurt
at last ascend skyward
steps hewn in rock for us
we have only to climb

you see? views here are better
past day's murk adds depth to sunset
clanging cacophonies become faint sounds
no longer disturbing senses

air here is fresher
our minds sing anew
melodies ring out clear
joy lofts on evening breeze

sturdy stone tower atop
history its foundation
an upward spiral to sunlight
arm in arm take the longview
