Lifesoup

memories flip and flop to the surface,
melted and transformed by the fires of time passing
events merge and swirl, stick together and break apart
names and faces drift in and out of view in the concoction
a rich pot luck soup gathered from everywhere
random bits from passing strangers and sometimes
touched by pungent spice of exotic experience but most
enriched by meat and fiber of lovers and friends
poured over the sustaining bread of my children
