Haiku Group 1

late light illuminates
makes the housesiding pop
winter sun still warm

In morning dark lie
still, content until
body's pains propel

breeze shouts good morning
squinty sky is solid sheet
bird wakes in spring warmth

breeze shouts good morning
squinty sky is solid sheet
bird goes about her business

words' edges hone fine
read head-on you can't see
where air meets steel

watch train approach
whistle warning learned
now catch that ride

bird swoops in
tilts head to ground
orange mouths await

days of rain never ending
 clouds at last depart
birds sing as if at dawn

mottled mudhole
brown liquid stuff
green shoot emerges

prefers trees to trinkets
when that is common
Things will change

friends romans
countrymen lend me
your acronyms

crust is hard and
crunchy and dough soft
like deer's eyes

afternoon trees filled
with raucous noisy splotches
blackbird convention

First buds appear
brave pioneers
beware the late frost

fruit color crayon
wrapping still intact
grows a fine apple

rolling green hill
endless white rows of teeth
a thousand lives lost

rolling green hills
rows and ranks of wavy teeth
mark countless losses

waves of clouds
wind driven vapor rolling
my thoughts unclear

self-doubt is virus
friends an antidote
soon bring healing effect

autumn sky stretches
smooth colors at quiet dusk
geese arrows pierce

first light just seeking
objects illuminated anew
seen as never before

past field of speakers
two-story-high screen soars
fun of summers past

Duluth

Lake's tip sings
In bright sunshine sparking
the city rejoices
