cold steel bar sleak smooth hard solid dense heavy dangerous when put in motion
dangerous when you are in motion forged from fires of hell as in the clank
clank red hot spitting I think of Sauron and his slimy brawny armies versus the
elegant elves and their arrows of carefully fashioned wood and feathers
or the chilly phallic towers splitting the sky in defiance versus the
forest filigree warm beautiful homes integrated at ease ..or back to a
bar.. the worn wood of an ancient Irish pub polished elbow after elbow ad

We wordplay days away
slather succumb subsume an awareness
subjugate and elongate an apostate of places
English and native all a mishmash
its Intercourse Pennsylvania of incalcuable innuendo
New Hope in Minnesota while P.A. comes again
Sleepy Eye Minn can spit straight in a spittoon
or make a Blooming Prairie, perchance if you're wary
White Bear Lake's the place to wait for goodness sake
while Red Wing on the river sing sing sings & flies away home
Wayzata's [Why- Zeta's] on the lake but where's zat at?
ya know, its Hell Michigan at the end of time
it needs work- and where's the punchline?

methodist
the narrow constricting collar and tie, choking me
but I did like to sing.
the sleep-inducing sermon, usually, doodling in the order of worship
not enough to keep me happy.
but I did like to sing.
the readings mysterious, mostly incomprehensible, ancient words in
strange English,
but I did like to sing
the hypocrisy in the words, with the congregation in their 300
dollar suits and dresses, evident even to the child me,
but I did like to sing
the hard wooden benches pressing my butt, making me squirm, lose
whatever focus I managed,
still I did like to sing
the songs always hard to center around my range - which octave should
I use?
still I liked to sing
the choir and congregation, lifting me the voices and organ carrying
my spirit aloft, standing among all the tall adults singing right
along, familiar hymns like favorite foods nourishing me warming me
Wesley had a way with a hymn, didnt he?

look not for meaning herein
priest prays peeps practices props pretends prolongs prevaricates along about
now I should say I dont know any personally so i will hold my thoughts and
thicknesses and threads loosely in my hand not to fall or cut circulation
and I continue to write not leading anywhere as a priest would lead his
fold spiritual guide group gestalt gathered grandly garrulous and
Gesthamane bound and gagged as gales of laughter from gangs of groupies or
gaggle of goosesteppers grappling Dopplegangers and dreer bells toll for
fortune and fame befalling those who have seen it all before

laugh until your sides hurt until you run out of breath until something hits
you between the eyes until your toes are stomped or someone gags you then
laugh some more moreover dont stopover in the dreery places but pass on by,
bestowing your cheer as you go just flow thats what you're known for thats
why you're here not trying to diminish you its a gift its a healthy
lifegiving thing

catalog not your problems lest they overwhelm
count your chickens
enumerate your nummies
belabor your blessings
but who wants advice at a time like this
plug on
dont equate your self with nobody else cause you cant ever see all
they are
cause and effect and collect what you can and reduce what you can of
what you dislike and spike that ball over the net

cradle rock in the trees who speak by branches and leaves strange customs
revealed but unheard in our ears language of the earth forgotten only
occasionally glimpsed our most distant relatives shelter us clothe us feed
us yet we hear not an inference a complaint an injunction thinking El niño
la niña icebergs melt rivers on fire birds falling from brown skies species
gone forever with nary a feeling, certainly not a word, of loss from those
we follow long into the dark night as stars wink out overhead we wouldnt even
note the supernova so wound up in our own petty lives are we

poltice applied cool relief burn becomes something that is nice to escape
sometimes as if sitting by a fire, as cold night air still chills my back
while my face must be bright red I'm like Mercury facing the sun with ice on
the far side as sparks fly in a conflict of heated air carrying somewhat
solid matter upwards to the waiting trees whose cool leaves blot out the
distant starfire otherwise unshielded from view in the moonless night sky

Homily and homonym say what you mean and sound like you mean something...
Elucidate and illuminate- reverberate but dont prevaricate! Impassioned
impediments to the illuminati prelong the longing and prevent the ascension
of the seven steps to heaven or however you want to express the expressway
to your heart and soul's desire Is there such a thing as illuminati? people
who we trust to be wise? I guess its a relative thing- your mom or dad
perhaps? wiser than thou?

everyone's days are numbered, but no one knows the
score, when their number comes up when their ship comes
in when the boatman reaches the lee shore dont count
your chickens or be chicken little the sky may fall the
wind may cease the rains may never reach the earth may
crack but borrow tomorrow make another brother sister
say uncle cry your beloved country don't plant your feet
walk on I look and the trees still look bright green
with new life so I know its ok not a negative, not like
twilight time in hell all black and red and purple
swollen and seething, a strain on the eyes and a drag
on the soul no blue white bright singing seeking rowdy
life vivisimo!

maybe a rear-view mirror would help objects appear farther than they are but once they are behind you, its as if they are infinitely far you cant go home again a time machine is not something I have seen but if you dont make a change, today may SEEM like yesterday sometimes that might be good food for thought once eaten provides energy or might burden

numbers mean nothing unless attached to something sort of like love floating free of an object kind of like some would describe God's love floating in the ethers free of an object or enveloping all but would it have meaning if not directed raw data raw emotion distinct from reality
July
sliding precariously balanced on a hump-backed wave as
it curls and collapses explodes on the sand and sucks
back to begin again not caring if I rode or was sucked
under although then again maybe it does my mass has
some effect diverts some H2O molecules interferes to
some small degree with its pounding dragging tearing
action on the shore one billionth of a eon longer this
shore will hold its place

words floating nearly free estranged then rearranged enveloping thoughts love of the world of life of all thats in it floating free the object may be a superset of all to contradict my other notion in motion conflagration of association flaring into new-------------------------------
Purps thought this odd: ( tomcoleman, Jul 31, 2003 3:44:41 PM ) "pie R squared- once in a while, but mostly they are round or cut almost into triangles with no tune, with one curved side which makes them pie shaped why is that? when really pie in its unaccosted state is round unless you look at it on edge then what is it? pancake- shaped? I heard Kansas is flatter than a pancake, really, unless you count the little hills in the north, that the topography of a pancake more resembles some other state- maybe alabama? 49 states have seatbelt laws where is the hold-out? my son and I were discussing the helmet laws which are being considered for overturning here for motorcycles he was saying people were arguing you die with or without helmet in a motorcycle crash give me a break oops bad choice of phrase but maybe it should be the motorcyclists choice maybe for seatbelts too but we all pay when they get crippled or maimed so many arguments around and round like a pie " I cant say I disagre with her

sliding gouging resistant dirt under nails in the wood flute grooved soil soylent green none to be found only greasy pavement in Chile they have golf courses of dirt, the "green" held hard and fast by a slathering of motor oil and in a desert where they recieve 1/2 " annual rainfall "water" hazards are blue painted rocks talk about diehards real estate (unreal estate?) is cheap there I suppose versus many golf courses here which seem like unlikely profit-makers given their expanse their expense as I expound explain explicit experience expecting extemporaneous extolling except exhibited extreme exhaustion exceeds exemplary intentions
Tom Coleman ( tomcoleman, Aug 5, 2003 10:13:29 AM ) soft chubby finger points mouth open in awe at many a new thing oh oh the surprises but oh! some things aren't RIGHT- I cant get everyhitng I want! the injustice! don't you KNOW what I want? oh to be able to TALK
Tom Coleman ( tomcoleman, Aug 7, 2003 2:27:47 PM ) seeing sienna smoke rise towards the sky I am concerned but I suppose someone else is dealing with it so instead I admire the color against the bright blue reminding me of smoke from across the grandest canyon in July from at least 12 miles away we saw the white plume flattening a scant few degrees above the North Rim but enough and long lasting enough to cause haze at sunrise and sunset, painting the canyon with smeary pastels rather than the more distinct rainbows in rock usually seen- hard to know how big it was or why it was but I know its a wilderness there to the west of the north rim lodge perhaps far enough north to be near some outpost LDS settlements where they still practice polygamy, pulling a modest living from SUV or hiking tourists or enroute to Zion Park and maybe they practice dry farming, incorporating techniques learned from the tribes, overlooked by the government as harmless or uneconomic to pursue, a skirting of federal and state law, where the women still wear bonnets and perhaps practice a form of democratic communism, under an umbrella of theocracy, which is seen as the divine ideal, almost a return to Eden (or at least the Promised Land or else the smoke rises from a very thinly populated bit of reservation where indigenous tribes can still live simply much as they have for hundreds or thousands of years, the Havapai I believe on the south rim have isolated villages accessable on foot or by horseback not even SUVs go there and the NORTH rim is even more remote, but know this is off the top of my head so its accuracy is disputable in my own mind
poet tasting: mmm delicate and subtle hmm this one is pedestrian and brutal aaaah thought provoking and lyrical errg cant make heads or tails of this one bleh sensationalist and trendy YES creative use of language, new, effective imagery the murderous politics of noise (stolen from Magister Ludi): brings to mind (various levels of murderousness here) cars passing by on the street with booming stereos rattling my window, disrupting the Waco cult with loud music and Hitler shouting and pounding on the podium
