Archipelago

A life recalled is like an archipelago of islands in the river
of time. Or maybe it is more like an ocean with currents,
each of us adrift in a current, bumping up against others in
their individual innertubes. Certain events, moments,
people, impressions remembered from the endless flow.

Sometimes the connections can be made- what seems an island is
really a peninsula.

The things you remember about your life are surrounded by a sea
of things you forget- the sights and sounds. Forgotten
aspects of the experience.

It also seems like life is a series of islands of being awake,
in a river of sleep. Or is it the other way around?
