I heard Jennifer Kimball and John Gorka Saturday night. Jennifer was extraordinary. She soars, surprises, slips her listener into an alternate state simply with her voice. I see now that The Story was certainly not built by Jonatha Brooke alone. Her chord changes are almost jarring at times, but her voice carries you through it with aplomb. And these very chord changes are one of the prime elements that make her music beautiful and fascinating. Her strumming at times was annoying, though. I want to hear her latest "Veering From The Wave". I hope it gives her songwriting and singing the kind of illumination it deserves. She washes over me like the wave from which she is veering.

John Gorka is clever and often moving, always entertaining.
But, this night he was upstaged by his opening act, I felt.
