Nov. 1997- I just saw Karen Savoca with Suzzy Roche and Susan Piper at the Appel Farm Arts Center. I was especially impressed with Karen.. I know she has a CD out- I heard one of the songs once on public radio, and she talked about it. But I don't know the label, or where she is from. She had a bass/guitar player with her who was fantastic, while she mostly just handled various percussion and the vocals. The stuff was somewhat commercial, I suppose, sort of like a Suzanne Vega crossed with Sarah McLachlan? I want to find her CD myself.. I wasn't real familiar with any of them, except Suzzy as part of the Roche sisters. Karen had Peter Heitzman with her, a marvelously talented bass and guitar player. All three women were very enjoyable, with poignant songs and great between-song tales and interaction from Susan and Suzzy. I thought Karen sounded like she had commercial potential.See also a review of Bill Frisell's "Gone, Just Like A Train"
