Welcome to Art for Life's September to November edition

These four poems were the inspirations of a Canadian poet. Rowan Woods --- who studied at Carleton and Brock Universities --- penned these words during 1990-91 in such locations as Merriton and St. Catharines in Ontario, Canada and in Sarasota, Florida, USA.








Suddenly, He leapt out of hooded sleep and said to Her, his eyes extended, "I know that place. I can take you there." Her heart rose into Her mouth with this blessed incantation and a smile crossed Her parched lips. "Yes, take me..." and She fell back into the deep peace of eider dawn, and He layed Himself down with the direct suddenness He had Himself raised---and then, closed His eyes to the whole matter.









It's not as much the ones that come and go; It's the ones that stay. It is the ones that like to move and dance before the camera; They put on a display of feathers and zoom in and out of the lens taunting both film and focus.









Sex: A secret garden, Splendor in sullen, silkened paradise. Privatized for solitary unity. Duality, two souls, two eyes. Hidden sensors polarized...









...and the second convict said to Him "If you are the King of the Jews --- 'God' --- why don't you set yourself free from this cross?" And He turned to him --- and He did.
