my review of Titanic
Titanic. A moving retelling of the tragedy that happened to
the boat Titanic with a moving love story weaved in the
fabric.
The story started with a 17 year old fiancee of a rich man
and a poor guy (who won his tickets for the ride on Titanic
through a lucky hand of poker) both are among the 2200 passengers
on the infamous boat Titanic. The first night the girl realized
how her life was going to be and ran to the end of the boat and
climbed over the rail to jump in, but the guy came and talked
her out of it. Saying that if she jumped in, he would have to
jump in after her.
In the next couple days they fall in love and she plans on
leaving the boat with him. But then the boat hits the iceburg
and starts to sink. (it took about 2 1/2 hours before it actually
sunk) Anyway, he tried to get her off the boat alive, (they
were only allowing women and children in the life boats) but
she wouldn't go without him. In the end they end up in the
water after the boat sunk. 1 of the 20 lifeboats returned to
pick up any survivors. 1494 of the 1500 people remaining in
the boat died. Jack died to.
Overall, the best part of the movie was the actual telling of
the tragedy that was Titanic along with the footage of what
Titanic looked like before the accident. It was an
extremely big and beautiful ship. This was an excellent part
of the movie.
Then there was the love story. Jack and Rose were two very
different classes of people and yet they met and fell in love.
Rose was willing to leave her family without money in order
to be with Jack. She also would have rather died than live
without Jack (a fact shown through her jumping off of a lifeboat
back into the boat to be with Jack). The story was a sad story
in the fact that he died at the very end. Yet, a lovely idea
for a story.
Overall, a 9.5 out of 10 for this movie. A worthy see for any
person who is willing to sit 3 hours to watch a tear-jerking
excellent movie. (Keep in mind the positives and negatives
following)
Negatives of the Movies:
Of course since I am a Christian you would expect this to be on
my negative list. The Nudity. Besides the part where you see the
drawing of her naked, there is the part where you actually see
her without a top on. And it's not a once passing either. You see
her 2 or 3 times. Now, this is only what 10 seconds out of a 3 hour
movie. But, still I think that this movie might have gotten a 10
out of 10 were it not for this.
The other negative was the language. There was a little bit too
much language in this movie. I didn't really notice it the first
time I watched it because I was so caught up in the movie, but I did
notice it the second time I watched.
The Positives:
I already stated these above. They include an excellent retelling
of the tragedy that was Titanic and an excellent love story
weaved in the fabric of it.
