Bill and Carrie
Thirty five years ago we became friends with the parents of a child our daughter was at
school with. This couple were wonderful and took us along to their church where we met
many people who showed the love of God to us. This has a great effect on us and we gave
our lives over to God. This has enriched our lives en every way as God leads and guides us
all the way.

Until I met God my life was a bit of a mess and I often felt alone and depressed. I
began to wonder if there was a God and what would happen when I died. I was invited to a
carol service held at Vineyard where I realised that Jesus died for me. I accepted Jesus
and I became a Christian. I am no longer lonely and life is more fulfilled. I am
happy knowing I will go to heaven and I thank God for my life.

I am a one parent and had always thought there must be more to life than I had
experienced so far. Then one day some people from the church invited me along to one of
their meetings. As I hadnothing to loose I went along. I soon realised the people there
had something I wanted. A few weeks later I asked God to forgive everything I had done
wrong and to come and take control of my life. My son also did the same and God has been
faithful to both of us over the years.

I was 18 years old, very young and very loutish but very lost. I had spent my life
trying to build an image for myself as 'Jack the Lad' but I came to realise that my
biggest need was forgiveness and a new start. I wanted to be on good terms with God so I
turned from my old lifestyle and made Jesus the boss of my life - I became born again, a
new person on the inside. I've now been forgiven and have no need to fear judgement and
death. Thanks to Jesus I'm going to Heaven.

John - I used to be totally dependent on alcohol. I had been in treatment centres and
hospital and I was desperate. It was in hospital that I prayed for the first time in my
life. I knew that God had heard me because I lost the compulsion to drink. It's been a
long time now since I last had alcohol and I praise God for that.
Maggie - I had always hoped there was a God and used to pray to him when things were
bad. However, I became addicted to alcohol and tried to give it up. It was not until I
submitted my life to God that he gave me power to overcome the addiction which I have now
been free from for many years.
We have two children, Anne-Marie and Peter-Samuel. We also run 'The Acorn Group' where
we share with others how God has helped us to overcome addiction.
