Rough To do list for June
By MN (07/06/01)
Based on: Notes of MT supervision
(25/05/01); MT email (28/05/01)
Create v 1 of Manipulation chapter
Reception
rough-cut
Conclusion
Sound here?
Create v 1 of the “perception/positioning” chapter
[NOTE: it
seems to tend towards the positioning, here it could refer to the
social space idea and could also
relate to the embodiment question; note also that MY point was the idea of
interpretation of the event via system controlled camera which leaves the
action interactive and “free” but adds a narrative layer nevertheless; one can
nicely refer to Branigan here if I remember right]
Create v 1 of “evolving narrative structures” chapter
Start with
short reference to Improv
Check the
globe and put it in
Apply Ching
idea
Possibly include in the Ching idea Philip Parker's structural categories for movies in The Art
& Science of Screenwriting - maybe checking out Aristotle's Poetics on
parallel points - looking at the idea of 'mapping' plot in spatially organised
narrative as a similar exercise to making an architectural concept plan
following Ching's (Norbert Schulz, Alexander) basic pointers.
Conclusion
Create v 1 of practical examples
Common
Tales (for fixed cameras)
Haven (for
social space, interface, not-fixed cameras)
Wayfinder
(for interface, presence?)
Zanzarah
(for the globe?)
Add to v 1 of approach
Theatre and
VE (refer to the performance/event part in order to relate to that
possibly later on in a discussion
of embodiment which might lead to another
chapter about social spaces in VE)
“Is it drama or narrative?”
Deleuze “cinema
one/two” (check in “one” chapter 2?) about time and images
to connect narrative and film;
also include new book
Add to v1 of “myths in VE”
Include
Campbell, Wertheim, Levi-Strauss [maybe check whether this is part
of my story map idea or of the
evolving narrative structure idea]
