Okay -- this is perhaps the ten gazillionth quote page that exists on that vast and unfathomable plane known as the Internet. (Speaking of the ol' Plane, did you know that 45 countries recently signed an agreement to internationally censor the 'net? At least, so says the eminent Spanish newspaper El País. Some say it's to protect their citizens from "subversive" points of view. Others have a nobler line of reasoning: they feel 'net censorship will protect the economy. That's right: we may not have a civil right to our collective name, but by God we shall have the economy. This reinforces my believe that the dollar has gradually converted itself into the center of a quasi-religious movement that is at the moment enjoying great popularity in this world. Oh, but hey, this is my quote page. What ze hell?)
That is, "Jesus wouldn't have thrown the merchants out of the temple had he known that the Market is the glodal religion and the one in which everything else would eventually end."
(borrowed from Máximo, El País, Sun. 7 may 2000 -- thanks)
ANYway. That was uncalled for -- wait, that's a lie, it was very called for. I let my little editorial stand. But what was I saying? Oh, yeah, the profusion of quote pages that already exists in this free-speech paradise known as the Internet. Well, I don't care, I have had a quote page since I was in eleventh grade and I don't intend to give it up now. Granted, it is neither terribly complete nor widely applicable, but I guarantee that parts of it will be amusing and other parts thought-provoking. And guess what? Unlike some OTHER quote pages, MINE is in alphabetical order! And so without further ado ...
Actually I filled the Little Green Book and moved on to a Little Red Book but I lost that so I went to a Little Blue Book but now that is filled as well and I'm on a Little Green Recycled Book from Bilbao. Who knows what will come next?
Okay. This quote thing has grown all out of proportion, and is just too bulky now to belong on one page. So what have I done? Well, expanded, of course! I've split the alphabetically-ordered Quote Page into three smaller alphabetically-ordered Quote PageS. And I have divided them, for no good reason except that I felt like it, along the same fault lines as my unabridged dictionary:
So you see I have been busy. And I encourage you, too, to get busy and read these quotes! And check back often. I am constantly adding to the collection.
