Don't fret now... it's just little old we.

Words... words... words.

When I came here (Brown) for the first time... I had no idea what I was getting myself into. And if I did have some vague idea... it was wrong. So! with the trial of fire in the past I've recuperated at my winter palace (heh, Syracuse... home town of Grace Jones, Bobcat Goldthwait, John Berendt, and me) and returned to school. And this time I now exactly what I'm getting myself into... or at least I think I do. ;]

yaaaaaaaaaawn!
ah! better...

What's been going on? Well... here are my classes this semester (yeah I'm taking five, no I'm not feigning insanity to get off campus housing)...

  • CS:16 -- Algorithms and Data Structures. (blech. Neat home page, though)
  • UC:82 -- Magic in the Middle Ages. (don't cross me... or, uh, else)
  • EL:111 -- Cyberspace, Virtual Reality, and Critical Theory (just look at the syllabus!)
  • MC:66 -- Introduction to Cinematic Coding and Narrativity. (cool and amusing at the same time)
  • EL:07 -- Intro Fiction writing Workshop. (Forcing me to do some f'in writing this semester)

What else? hmmmmmm. Recently I've felt a little bit of the old "ch-chkBlAm!" and though this could apply to the huge QuakeII multiplayer death fests I've taken part in recently, I'm referring to something else.

I've been honing my video-making skills in the production of a new Studley Monkey release... "Thayer St. Monologue" performed by Russ, and featuring students of Unit 22. If you're on the Brown network look for my computer, Merchant. it's in a shared folder.

I wrote my first paper for MCM yesterday... and that was an adventure. Something always unsettling about writing that first paper for a class... it being MCM didn't make it too much easier, but my philosophy for the course in general is keep a sense of humor about it. I mean I'm getting real chummy with Noel Burch, Colin McCabe, Baudrillard... y'know... my buddies. my friends.

I suppose I ought to get back to work... thanks for dropping by. Hang out if you like, drop a message if you care to, I'd be honored and grateful in either case.

Dan
