These next few pages contain my photographs from our Tahitian Family Vacation. We had the opportunity to vacation in French Polynesia in June 1999. We stayed on the most beautiful of the Tahitian islands, Moorea (Mo-o-ray-uh). Special thanks to Grandma Morin for making this possible! We LOVE you!

As you can imagine, me being a photographer, I took a LOT of film on the trip to Paradise. All of the photos were taken using a Canon Elan IIE 35mm camera with only a few using a Minolta Vectis 30 APS camera. Here are only 80 or so of my more than 500 photos taken during the trip. The photos are in chronological order and broken up into different pages, but still these pages WILL take a while to fully load onto your browser, depending on your computer, modem speed, ISP, et cetera. No doubt these photos are worth the wait. Have fun!

Here's the airplane that took us from LAX to Faaa, Tahiti. It is the only airport that has international flights. That means after our 8 hour plane ride we got on a bus, then a boat, then another bus.

Here's Bob, my Dad, in front of our bus. This bus took us from the airport to the boat port.

On the bus in Papeete, Tahiti.

Here are Adam and Dad at an intersection in Papeete. We couldn't figure out how they drive there. They have traffic signals, but whether it's red, yellow, green, or flashing they go right through them.

Here's Adam on the ferry from Tahiti to Moorea (30 minutes). It was taken using a Canon EF 15mm fisheye lens. I love the distortions!

This was taken as we came into Moorea's port. Our first good view of the island.

We stayed at the most beautiful hotel on the island- the Sofitel Ia Ora Coralia. Here is a view of the hotel from a lookout point on the road above.

Here's Kim on the pathway to our bungalows. We had three beautiful garden bungalows between the six of us.

This is one of the two hotel restaurants. It is called La Pérouse. We had wonderful brunches and dinners there.

There were coconut trees EVERYWHERE! We had coconuts falling on the ground in front of our bungalows. The atmosphere was so relaxed. In the French Polynesian islands the official language is French, then Tahitian, then English. In Tahitian there is no word for "hurry". Whenever you ask a native what time is this dinner or that show they'd say "Tahitian time", which means count on being late- no worries, no hurry!

Here we are at a wonderful dinner at La Pérouse restaurant. Here's a shot of the dessert table. YUM!!!

Here's Dad up on stage helping Mako to demonstrate "How to open a coconut." Hey, Adam got his open! Yummy!

On Monday evening there was an after dinner show of Polynesian dancing. Dad and Adam both got taken onto the stage to particitpate. It was SOOO funny to watch them try to shake it! Good job, guys.

From the lookout point on the road above, you can see all of the bungalows at the hotel and the beautiful beach. Here you can really see how colorful the crystal waters are.
